5. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?

I think that the most valuable part about this course was a combination of everything. From the online homework, to the discussions, to the group work, to the online classes. it was a refresher for math, even though it was a course to teach math it helped like a refresher with the basic algebra and math concepts. It gave me a fresh perspective on math. I like the set up of the online course work in my math lab. It has organized notes and lots of videos to help students understand the material. I found the videos and pdfs to be helpful along with reading the textbook. Also being able to do the homework in My Math Lab is great because you can also click view example if you get stuck. The projects we did throughout the semester were very helpful and actually made me feel lie I was on the road to becoming a teacher! Having the opportunity to learn different strategies in teaching todays math in schools today. *Relating each subject to the ways it will be taught in the classroom. *The online aspect!!!!! *The quizzes gave options to assist in finding the answer if I was having trouble *The instruction videos weren't boring *I appreciated the instruction videos that featured real students *The analysis of students' mistakes *Mixed media style of learning *Personalization of the course - this is especially difficult because it is online The class was well organized and there were many built in systems to help me along the way while doing the homework. The tests were accurate reflections of what we did in class, so I felt confident that if I studied the materials, I would be prepared. when doing homework online i really like how we got view an example of the problem and if we didnt know how to do the problem we could press on the bottom that said "help me solve this problem". I also like how if we had any questions at all we could post them in the discussion post were we could get answers right away. I liked the videos of the children because they show their thinking and their challenges with math. Great tool for when we become elementary teachers.

22. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

Thanks for giving feed back on the exams. I also liked how on some questions you asked for an explanation because it challenges us as students to make sure that we have a complete understanding of the content. mr girard is very knowledgable about math and expecially with communication if you have any questions or problems he gets right back to you through email. He is helpful if you made a mistake or dont understand one of the problems he will work with you. He knows how to teach math! I like how he replies back to students quickly and he gives through explanations. I found it helpful when he would put instructor comments in My Math Lab to make sure we understood what was being asked. The lessons and assignments he had us do were very helpful and really got me thinking! His response to questions via email were done promptly which in turn gave the student the advantage to move on in their assignments. *Responded to emails in a timely manner *The class was well thought out, interesting, fair, and balanced I felt that the Ryan Girard really cared and was there for us, which is rare for an online instructor. He answered all of my questions promptly, and always made me feel like it was easy to contact him with any concerns at any time. He really took the time to look over our problems and see if we were doing the problems right, using the right methods, etc. He didnt just base the grade off of the answer he based the grade off of how we worked the problem which i though was really good that way we could see what exactly we did wrong and how we could fix it. He responded immediately to questions and emails. He's always very helpful.

23. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

he has a very effective style of teaching. In the beggining of the course maybe state more clearly what each weeks assignments will look like and include details about blogs and discussions None...Great Job! group projects were very inconvienant because i was not able to do my work on my own time like you would like to do when taking an ONLINE class. i found them really annoying. there must be another option I thought there were too many group projects and what happens is that one person does all of the work and everyone is getting credit for it. I also think that as a "Math for Educators" course, it would be beneficial to have more lessons on how to actually structure a lesson and teach the material we were learning. I think everything went great. The course has too much homework for the 3 credits. There are too many questions in MML for each of the modules, they are supposed to be a review of the topic we already learned in school. It's time consuming! As for Ryan Girard, I think he does a great job teaching this class!

32. What did you like most about your online course experience?

the different resources that was availible to us and the feedback that we got each week. I learned a bunch of new computer skills. I liked how we got to interact with our classmates, especially through the use of google documents. I liked that the homework questions were in My Math Lab. That I could work at my own pac Working on my own pace, work schedule and my other classes throughout the week. It can be done on my time. It was very time efficient even though I am a full time student and have a job I still had time to do homework for math online. Deadlines were great and provided me time to work the homework on my own schedule. Google docs allowed me and my partner as well as my teacher to interact in problems and working out the material. I can work on my homework whenever is convenient for me.

33. What did you like least about your online course experience?

sometimes it was hard to communicate with other classmates for the group assignments. having to input math things typed out on the computer during the exams . . . it is hard for me. Group projects The group projects I found to be difficult b/c you are not physically together doing the work. It's hard to meet up online because people all have different schedules. I think it should be mandatory for each group to meet at least once a week on google chat or in the chat room. Couldn't ask questions and get a response immediately None I have no time :-) n/a It was my first online course. I think it was good and I will continue taking classes online.

I've never taken a math course online because i thought it would be too complicated but it wasn't that bad. One of the best online classes I have taken. Great lessons and modules. Really liked reviewing the material. This class was great! It wasn't easy for me by any means and I didn't get all the questions right or understand the concepts immediately. However, it taught me the concepts, I understood what I was doing wrong, taught me about children's learning styles, and My Math Lab was easy to use. I would highly recommend the course taught by this instructor. Great class! none

What I found most valuable about this course is the fact that I can apply Math to everywhere and anywhere that I go. So it is very useful/ valuable. I Liked the way he taught us he engaged all his students and made us feel apart of the class. He was there to answer any questions Hawks, notes of chapter, and warm ups that relate to hwaks problems. I liked hawks it made sure i did the home work right befor you were finised very useful tool multiplication Ryan would start out the class with warmups which are things people are having problems with. the tutors coming in to the class for help The teacher's commitment and fun explanation of algebra.

What I found most valuable and helpful about Ryan Girard is he has a true passion for teaching Math so I know I would learn something from his course. And he made it helpful when he uses reality examples like population of the U.S.A. Things like that. Great instructor. He knew what he was teaching Class discussion. he hade us think for ourselfs in stead of giving us the answers I felt he was a good teacher I would recomend him I hope to have his class for math 25 I learned a lot in his class teaching skills Willing to answer questions. Lets you go to tutors for help. he is energetic and i well knowledable about the class His love of the subject makes it fuun to learn. His availability and his eloquewnce helped me to proceed when I am stuck. Makes me want to join the math club

-Don't be so up tight sometimes and go with the flow -Yes it's possible to be a FUN instructor as well as a FIRM instructor -Make more group work assignments -Do more class hands on activities (personally I think I learned and remembered a little more through this method) -Just make everything more FUN and ENJOYABLE to Learn The course worked for me I learned math that I did not know in a resonable time frame teach more on what hawkes want us to do Making sure all materials are introduced in class before exams. Not make the question on the test the exception to the rule and we have not seen it before. nothing dim the lights.

5. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?

The course really helped me learn what I could not learn in high school. This specific Math 25 class has made me more confident in my math skills. I admit to have taken math 25 two semesters ago, but dropped out due to issues with the teacher as well as for some reason, not being able to retain information. This math class, however, has made a lot better. Now that I think back on it - I regret not finishing math 25 when I had a chance - at the same time, not really, because I really enjoyed and learned a lot from this course. Hawks What I find most valuable and helpful is the Hawks Learning System Hawkes is very helpful, and the teacher helps the students understand whats being taught, and encourages participation. We went over the basics of algebra problems to let him know what we know already. What I found most valuable and helpful from this course is the fact that it was not too big of a class; so therefore, there was enough time for one on one with the teacher. Also the different methods shown through each chapter as we learned about new topics. The ooportunity to ave more than one option to simplify the work so we could choose an option that may be easier than another. I found Ryan Girard very intelligent and energetic. I liked the hands on warm-ups we did every beginning of the class. It's a great way to re-freshen what we learned about the previous classes. The grouping thing. so we could ask and learn from others. nothing This course taught me how to do math that I will need in the next math class that I have to take. I liked his method of teaching and the Hawkes online math problems really prepared me for the exams. it helped me feel confident about math and that I could actually do the math once I learned the steps to the various problems. This course refreshed me in algebra. This course helped me brush up on and strengthen my algebra 2 skills, as I did not learn them very well in high school. The course was able to refresh my mind on some math concepts that I had forgotten. It helped me understand the concepts of mathematics that i missed in highschool Hawkes was a really nice way to practice. I felt like having physical homework would make learning far more long-lasting. I found that doing HAWKS was most helpful for me because I got to do my work learning as an individual and independently on my own time. It also helped a lot with the tutor section on it and providing examples, which showed a way of explaining and gave me a better understanding in what topic I was required to learn. I liked how he has you interact with the people around you to figure out the answers. I find his class work and notes very useful when I can't comprehend Hawk's instructions. I like the flexibility of doing my homework offline if I'm not able to get connected to the internet. Also the online tutoring is very useful. 22. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

He is by far, one of the best math teachers I've had. I took algebra in high school and my teachers can't really compare. He is enthusiastic about the subject as well as very knowledgeable. When he explains things, I get it because he explains it thoroughly. when he explained what the new chapter was about in roman numerals ex) I) Review II) definition III)examples he allowed us to correct our mistakes after he grades our tests He is knowledgable, easy to converse with, and fun. He gives points to people that do warm up problems on the board even if the answer is wrong. What I found most valuabe and helpful about Mr.Girard was that he was resourceful. Not only did he offer help during class, before and after class during office hours. Each class period he was sure to inform us about math tutors in the tutoring center, web sites and club math that may also be helpful. He gave a comfortable and encouraging feeling to go out and use what's out there to achieve the best. He grades our tests by the next class so we don't have to wait a long time before knowing our scores! He also shows us different ways to solve a problem, which is very helpful for me. Ryan Girard is an excellent teacher. He is always energetic and happy to teach us students. As a student, I like upbeat teachers who like to engage with their students. Mr. Girard always makes sure we understood what we are doing, if not he offers extra help and pushes us to see tutors if needed. His teaching styles are wonderful and he should keep it up. Math is not my favorite subject but I'm glad I had Ryan Girard as my instructor this semester. he would come up to us and help if we're stuck on something. nothing It was very helpful that Mr. Girard would answer any question that I had. He would help me if I was lost and make me understand the problem clearly as possible. He was always energetic about teaching us new things, made me want to learn the material. He was very friendly and very good at teaching. He would help an individual as much as he could. He was very enthusiastic which made class participation more fun. He is very into math, and I think it helped me and the other students get into it a little more. He was able to explain the lessons he taught clearly and effectively. He is willing to discuss about the work when you dont understand I loved how he is such an optimist! Always positive and encouraging. I found Mr.Girard to be very helpful. He would always gladly approach me to answer any questions I had, along with making sure that I'd understand the topic we were learning in class. He always came to class happy, giving me as a student a welcoming environment, ready to learn. He is always willing to help you learn. His positive attitude is very motivating in the mornings, especially when I'm not fond of math. I wish I was in his class next semester. Mr. Girard kept me interested in learning in class and he kept his explanations simple. I had some difficult times with some of the lessons but I was comfortable in approaching him for assistance. More time for practice problems in class dont explain some chapters throughly and some quickly. give equal time it would be helpful if he did not assign homework at the very last minute when we will have a test two days before. There is not enough time to actually know the next chapter two days before a test. And it would be great if we spent a whole day of class to study prior to the test so we can ask questions, also if he could give out review sheets! ........ I think it's alright. My suggestions for improving the course and/or his teaching style is to possibly give a few quizzes throughout the semester. I feel that with quizzes in between tests it assures we know what we have been studying and gives us more practice. I felt that the 50 minutes of class time was too short to fully learn the lesson. I feel that there are not any improvements that he needs to work on. just keep doing what you're doing. nothing none You are doing great, keep smiling. The best teacher I had yet. The class was too short! It felt like he was rushing through every chapter. He's a well respected teacher, but it would be great if he was organized when it came to writing on the board. the teachings Powerpoint notes. Learning to use the calculators better was very valuable because it helped to make problems easier. What was also helpful was learning about loans and interest because since I actually am doing student loans now for college it will help me to know what the actual total cost will be for everything. This course was like a manual for handling real life math problems. Everything I learned in this class was always something I could apply to a situation in the real world - not just in class. Doing the online homework where there's a help me button and help me solve button for problems I have trouble on. I found that this class made me solve a math problem carefully. Lecture about the chapters and the examples he used. The real life situations with the sAvings and interest math the most valuable thing about the course was learning how to figure the percent interest and loans, and note taking were helpful. Throughout the course, I noticed that a lot of the things that we learn are what we will need to use in our every day lives. Especially my near future. That you could get the presentations online. Having our homework online was better because we couldn't lose our assignments. the online homework assignments, quizzes and lecture outlines understanding loans my math lab really helped me ! Having the option of getting step by step help in solving a problem in My Math Lab.

His teaching techniques Responds to our emails quickly. He was very knowledgeable about the subject and was always willing to help if there was any questions. He also gave a lot of extra credit so if you were doing a little bad it was helpful to your grade. Well, I really liked how Ryan was a very ACTIVE teacher. He made everything seem so realistic and that's what helped me learned easy and quick. His teaching style is what really helped me in this class. He gives us his lectures as resources to help us with the chapter section we're working on. helping students outside class He has a great way of teaching! It's easy to understand. the valuable thing about Mr.Girard are using material items such as dice, markers, and the smart board, which is kind of cool. The helpful thing was lending us use calculators, and understanding how he explains on the notes. He would try his best to help you get a good grade in class. He made sure that you were okay and had a complete understanding with what was being taught. Ryan Girard would make sure every one had the right materials and that every one participated in an activity which would make sure they had a much clear understanding of what we're learning at the time. He explains things very thoroughly so you can really get them and goes over the example questions in class with us which is useful He's a really good teacher. He makes us feel comfortable in class and teaches us so that we understand the materials. very easy to talk to, offers a lot of help an knows what he is talking about. The instructor ensures to connect with the students. He created an environment where his students don't feel ashamed to ask questions! His willingness to help and meet with any students that needed help or needed clarification on any specific areas they were stuck on. What also was good about Mr. Girard was that he always tried to convince students to get involved with school functions and events and always made sure everyone knew about tutoring available. I like how he used powerpoints, i feel like it helped lot. I liked his enthusiasm about what he was teaching us.

Use more activities Nothing. Everything was great. I really loved the way Ryan taught my class. And I wouldn't want him to teach it any other way. None Nothing Problems on the board for students to go up and do you are doing a very well job!!! keep it rolling. -_- There aren't any suggestions. If anything, I think being more hands on if there are direct questions about a problem on an exam, etc. (Only if they are really not sure about how to solve an equation and can't really get the help they want from other students.) No online homework. the presentations are already online and i dont like doing online homework and with it there it gives people the opportunity to not even go to class. Everything was good about class putting answers on lecture outlines Ryan Girard should go over mymathlab to see what they show. Because they way he teach and the mymathlab teach is different so it make the homework harder to do. his teaching methods is good but maybe he should put the computer methods in this teaching as well. N/A Although the book is available online, I would suggest that all students purchase a hard copy of the book. I think that would help cut some time on note taking and more time for lecturing, answering questions and making sure everyone is clear on what being taught. go over more exmples. be sure that all tests and quizzes are grades correctly. No suggestions, he is a good teacher.

That he went through the problems as a class. The class notes on laulima Doing work online as well as in class Hwakes is an interesting system and it allows me to go over what we learned in class. But sometimes there is some slight dissonance in the way we learn in class and the way it teaches. The teachings on the smart board and the overhead made it easier to grasp the problems. His method of teaching is great. I love that he uses other resources besides just the book. The teacher's knowledge about the topic and his way of teaching the material to us in a way to make it easily to understand. I found the Hawkeʻs Learning System to be most helpful. I thought what was the most valuable thing I learned was equation to convert temperatures, other than that, i'm not a huge fan about math, algebra, geometry, all that. Ryan's class explanations of the math content was made easy for me to get a bases of understanding. I found that attending class was very valuable and helpful. I would have been able to do the homework if I did not go to class. I enjoy Hawkes and find it useful for most of my study material. Class discussions and group discussions. Mr. Girards way of presenting information and relating real-word application really helped me to better understand the concepts he taught. I hated the automated system of homework where there is only 1 way to get the write answer when there should be more ways to write a right answer. Also I hate homework that you can't carry with. Don't the teachers grade homework anymore and can't see how a student is learning. Group work and "active" lectures (when we would pause during the lecture to try the new material). Lots of practice problems and group work helped me out a lot. I've found that the learning process of the program hawkes was a lot different from what the instructor was teaching the class. Yet, Mr. Girard is a good teacher. -That he went over different ways of getting the answer to all problems. -He had us learn in groups and was very energetic and enthusiastic about everything math. You can tell he loves what he does and that makes a big difference...it's not boring that way. -That we had hawkes to learn from as well, whether I missed a class or didn't follow too well on a certain problem I was able to go over it again. And it helped tutor me on problems that I didn't understand or got wrong. It would give me instant results or help. I really liked hawkes. I really don't know. He explained in detail...I think? But kind of like with every teacher it just never sticks. Ryan Girard is always willing to help you understand something if you're having trouble. What i found most valuable about the course is the teacher. Being able to get a decent grade due to just putting work and time into the class. Such as as long as you do your homework on Hawkes, your given an 100% on homework every time. If you do the test corrections (take home test), your going to boost your crummy test grade. So having effort equal i'd say at least 80% of your grade is helpful. What I found most valuable and helpful about the course was using the Hawks system. Even if it was challenging, it helped me better improve my math skills by having the lessons and problems on my laptop. I could access it at anytime and it was conveinent.

He is a good instructor that will help the students and not criticize people no matter how bad a question they ask. Ryan Girard is always aware of the other students in the classroom, doing his best to involve everyone in the class in lessons and assignments in the classroom and out of the classroom. Gives us opportunities to seek out and explore the various things that are associated in the college like the Learning center and that of the laulima of KCC. He is understanding. Willing to go over something until you truly understood it That i could talk with ryan after class about questions i had. That he post his chapter on laulima before we learn it in class. He also gives ways to get bonus points which in return will anyway help you in class. He was always there for help if I needed it. He used good real life examples of how the problems would related in everyday terms. His love for math and love for teaching students is the most valuable thing you could find in a teacher. Ryan has great enthusiasm and an amazing understanding of his field and willingness to work with students that need extra explanation during class time. He is really a great teacher and knows mathematics well. He was helpful at helping the class understand difficult or pointless problems in hawkes. His ability to explain the work and have you understand why it works or doesnt work. very professional but needs more flexibility in considering timelines on a case by case basis. He's a very welcoming teacher. He puts his students at ease to learn and allow his students to feel free to ask questions. He never seemed condesending or arrogant. He's an impressive teacher. Always there for help when needed. Whenever he didn't know the answer to a question he would come back next class with it. He just seemed like he wanted to be there. His personality and his commitment to helping students at any time of the day. His knowledge and ability to break down equations so that the class can understand the question and equation more thoroughly He is very knowledgable in his subject. He teaches well and proficient, yet the material he teaches the class is different from the online hawkes homework. Like I said earlier...you can tell he loves what he does. He was very energetic, enthusiastic, positive, dorky (which is a very good thing to me), funny, and very intelligent. All which makes for a good teacher and one that will make it interesting and fun. He was able to put things in simple terms as well. Sometimes the way hawkes explained something, I would have to read it over and over and still would not get it. And he was pretty generous to students, offering limited bonus points. He's a good teacher. If I have to take another math class, I would take it with him again. He knows math? Well he seems really knowledgeable about this course and other courses that relate to math as well. His enthusiasm about teaching and his solid knowledge of the information he teaches. If you don't understand he takes time to help you and tries to explain or teach it in another way that you might understand it better. He explains good, but too fast to understand the math steps. His...enthusiasm for giving extra credit points and his positive attitude. What I found most valuable and helpful about Ryan Girard was that he was willing to help students get the material that we were learning in class. He provided bonus points for those to get some extra credit done and Mr.Girard was clear on his lectures in class about the given lesson.

23. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

I think that he should walk the students who don't learn as fast as the others into the more advanced problems of the chapters that he is teaching. A lot of the times i was struggling to figure out the solutions to some problems because it was a pretty big advancement into the problems when the students only learned the basics together as a class. None Less hawkes homework! longer class period Not sure, it seems good as it is. Everything is good and this class is well prepared also well taught. Let us use calculators. I often found what we discussed or learned in class was not reflected on the Hawkes program. Either there just wasn't enough time to go more in depth, or it was used in a different way. Some test questions seemed to reflect the same, a different twists on problems or they were different than what was done on homework. There were not enough practice/homework problems based on what we went over in class, or not enough class time to practice what we learned. Group efforts seemed to be strained and sometimes we sat unsure of the expectations or just not understanding the material enough to proceed. None that I can think of. 1) Hawkes is somewhat more difficult than what we learn in class. In class, its more or less a brush on top of the chapter, then when it comes to hawkes, its not completely different but its more harder and difficult to comprehend. So maybe my suggestion is to teach what hawkes teaches. 2) The exams are a little hard, like Hawkes is so different from the exams we have in class. Maybe we should just stick to the hawkes being that we're on it a lot more doing homework and practices than in class lectures. 3)I know I suck at math but really, I don't think i suck this much to be failing exams left and right, maybe be a little less harsh when it comes to exams and have easier questions that aren't so hard that half the class gets it wrong. Personally I think that the program Hawkes should not be used. The teacher only gives us a basic idea of what the chapter is about. Hawkes on line does not neccessarily teach the same thing. In the end you have to re-teach yourself on line to understand what it is that is being asked. Although presented to the teacher he explains it well But this student can not ask the teacher several hours into the night when I am able to do this. Therefore I miss the deadline. Hawkes teachings are sometimes different than the teacher teaching at school. I think if he added more visual aids and small quizes here and there the students as well as he would be able to see where the class stood before the actual exams... May reiterate on something or hand out more material or homework to help with any problem areas. But this does not reflect on him as a teacher, students learn in many different ways. I personally enjoyed having quizes to see if I was secure in my ability. Going over Hawk problems so that the homework would be more clear to others. More group work, "active" lectures, and maybe some homework from the book mixed in with assignments from Hawkes. Exam part II can be quite flawed for students who have a high grade on part I. It would help if there was some way to look over it in the future. Try not to make too many mistakes when solving problems on the whiteboard. think before you write down anything. I liked it just the way it was, but maybe one thing to work on is what people kept complaining about, hawkes being different...well duh it's going to be a little different in the way it teaches things, but you still should get the same answer. I think they were crazy, but maybe he should do his thing and then go over some hawkes in class, so he can shut them up and get back to teaching. It seemed to waste precious teaching time listening to the same people complain about it. I think overall, the course is good with Ryan Girard. I actually loving it. It is very complex but it's all good once you get the idea. Please stop assuming that we know things on the homework that you do not teach us. It really makes it a headache and it's been like that since the beginning of the semester. It wasn't too bad at the beginning but slowly as the semester progressed the work got harder and harder, and things that were not taught to use seemed like rocket science of some sort. practice worksheets on every chapter or mini quizzes once a week so students don't forget what they've learned. Or even a practice test before the actual scheduled exam just to help students study I suggest to improve the Hawks homework program. It's a pain in the butt. I HIGHLY suggest having the in class test questions equivalent to the same format as the damn Hawkes. It's really retarded that you spend hours and hours doing and learning how to do these concepts the Hawkes way, and answering questions for certify mode the Hawkes way. Than when test day comes you get these totally ridiculous never before seen style of problems that slightly resemble the concepts you've gone over, but nothing what you seen on Hawkes, not enough to be like "Oh yeah, that's familiar". It's like having two teachers (Hawkes and Girard), one teaching you one way (Hawkes), and expecting only so much, than another (Girard)expecting you to Hudini through his little puzzle of a test. A suggestion would be more group activities to interact with our classmates and help each other learn at the same time.

He knows and loves what he is teaching. I thought that this was a good math class to be in, and i was out of math for about two years before this. Professor Girard really understands what he is teaching and that is really awesome to have if needed for questions. Overall, I thought that this was a good course but he could walk the students into the more advanced problems because some slower learning students may get left behind on a chapter in which they do not understand and have troubles with the advanced part of the problems on the test and even on Hawkes. I like that you notice improvements in each student. I took math 25 before this and I feel that many of the things we learned in 25 were repeated in 103, I,m not sure why this is. Awesome class if you are gonna go Kauai Community College and take Math i recommend taking it from this guy. He is a good teacher and knows his math. I did learn a lot in this class and enjoyed the instructor. He was very personable and made himself available to help when I needed it or had questions. He was an excellent math teacher that i would recommend anyone to take. I believe ALL instructors of math using the Hawkeʻs Learning System should allow for a moment of class time as to open the program and visually go through a few problems together as the Hawkeʻs plays a major role in the grade as homework assignments, therefore there is no confusion as how to do a problem most often not discussed in class. Lose the Hawkes system or teach exactly like how the Hawkes teaches. It think Ryan is a good teacher I just think that Hawkes should not be used. It has been difficult using and understanding. Again I would just like to say that Ryan is an outstanding teacher, and is very well tuned in his area of expertise. Thank you Mr.Girard! Should have more class participation. Let the students do more work on the board so that others can learn from each others mistakes. Excellent job! I actually loved learning from you and I've never said that about any of my math teachers...well maybe in elementary school I might have and that's becuase they made it fun and interesting. Don't know why, but it seems that teachers start not caring about making math interesting and fun the older you get. ...Of course I can't say that now. Homework is a drag, and Hawkes sucks. The Hawkes text and online work should be replaced. I became very frustrated with the way Hawkes presented the material and the homework. It is very frustrating to put in a correct answer but have it marked as wrong because it was not typed in with the EXACT spacing or form that Hawkes wanted it in. I haven't talked to one fellow student or even the math tutors that liked the Hawkes program. There has to be something better out there than Hawkes. It has made a very enjoyable class and a great instructor the most frustrating college experience I have ever had. I am now in my 12th year of college attendance at many different schools and levels and this program is the worst experience I've ever had. Thank goodness this is my last math class. The teacher is helpful, but the hawks is not! I think the way math should be taught is people doing there homework first and trying to figure it out than the teacher comes along and fills in the pieces. Coming to class oblivious on the material being covered, is a huge waste of time. I can honestly say, that I have not learned a thing going to class, other than knowing whats sort of material was going to be on the homework i'd have to do that week, in which I would have to teach myself. I suggest that people should take math online, and if you get stuck than see a math tutor. I am glad I took Math 103 with Mr.Girard.

This semester, everything was more finite and precise. Mr.G knew exactly what he was doing this semester, and was flexible. I liked how available he was as a teacher. Also the different teaching techniques learned throughout was helpful. Taught me how important it is to be organized and that unexpected things happen in a classroom. The tests were a good overview and our presentations really helped to build confidence. The ability to try teaching ideas and techniques without worrying about its effect on your overall grade and score. The teacher Ryan makes the learning experience as easy as possible. He effectively teaches the points and the care he has for his students really shows. I would say the way in whcih Ryan was always there to help the students if they needed him, made the course very smooth. The course itself was fun, but the teacher is what made the course!! I feel that after going through the first semester it was better for me to get the grip of this semester. I really enjoyed the fact that I could come in and talk to the teacher about problems or questions I was having with the course. having to create lesson plans as a elementary teacher would have to Very educational and reflective. Having to learn how to teach over what to teach is a major key in becoming a successful future teacher. In this course we did a lot of group work since much of the class was based on Exploration presentations. It was very helpful to work with others and see their points of view on how to solve problems, as well as having us practice explaining problems to others. I found the student-led lessons helpful because I was able to get a feel of different teaching styles from other classmates. Doing presentations in front of the class helps alot.

Mr.G gave a lot of different examples for me to take to hopefully one day use in my own classroom. He was always available to help his students when needed. Very willing to help and tries to relate every situation as if we were in a classroom. He works really well with his students. He is helpful with any questions you have. He is a very flexible teacher. There are many bonus op and ways to help your grade if you miss classes or are behind. The fact that Ryan was always available to help the students understand their projects, homework, the lessons, and eveything else in between, made him a great teacher. He was the most helpful teacher I had from the entire KCC campus. Very nice. I felt that Ryan was very valuable to my learning this semester because he provided me with lost of support and answers to help me get through the course. He is really caring and makes himself very available to help students when they need it Very eager and energetic while teaching. If he didn't have a certain item available, he would improvise. I like the fact that he doesn't always offer the answers to the problems presented right away. He gives us time to figure it out, then work with others to either find the answer or help others understand the problem. Lot of collaboration work which makes for better understanding and class atmosphere. Ryan was very engaged in student activities. He always gave suggestions as to how we could improve as well as being open to suggestions to improve his course also. He was thoughtful and was willing to work around everyones life. He was always willing to answer questions and take time to talk to you. I was always comfortable to ask him for help.

23. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

No suggestions on improving the course Try to make attending class mandatory, or give incentives for the students who come to class. Have more things planned for in-class activities. Continue to work towards making it an online class. Better project examples I would say the only suggested improvement that I would offer would be concerning the attendance policy. I think you should at least make a student's attendance at least 10-15% of their overall grade. I also think that switching all the homework to online, contributed to lower class attendance. I would not suggest doing this next semester. I also found that I learned more from the written homework compared to the online homework. I think with these few changes, class attendance would increase, or at least remain steady, and therefore contribute to a better course. The only suggestion I have is to have examples that students can look at to get an idea of what you want. maybe less group time and more showing on the board what we are learning None. Keep doing what he's doing. hes doing a great job, can't really think of anything.

Practices in Hawks and being abke to see results to our test ans homework. It's a great learning environment. There are teacher's assistants who attend the class to help out the students who are having trouble. The lessons are understandable. Hawkes' Learning System, which is where all "homework" is done on, is a great program that tutors us in the comfort of our own homes. Pre-Algebra was challenging, but Mr. Girard did an excellent job of teaching us. He is really enthusiastic about math, his energy level of teaching really motivated me to work more harder in solving math problems. the importance of group work and having other students that are at the same level that you are. It is too early for me to know what has been valuable and helpful as I have yet to apply what I've learned. In the fall I will know the value of this course. I never thought I would get through this class and am super happy I have done so with a high grade. I like how the teacher taught us and also saved the notes for us. Also i enjoyed the computer work. I liked that we got to work in groups, that really helped everyone. Hawkes was really helpful and valuable because it helped me remember basic math & helped on my test. I enjoyed this class very much even though I went into something I didnt like at all. Best class yet :) the way mr. girard would always make sure you understood his lessons.He would break it down 4 you and make it real easy to understand.Also if you needed more help he would sit and have a 1 on 1 with you.Or even meet with you after class or in the library to help you out.I wish I had more teachers like him in highschool I would have done a lot better than just a GED.He is a great teacher and would recommend any who is taking math to take one of his course's!

everyhting, I wish I can take my math classes only with him. best teacher. Ryan explains and teaches in a clear voice and he makes it easy for the students to follow. I believe Ryan plans out his lesson speeches ahead of time due to how organized it is. When a student doesn't understand, he tries to explain more about that subject which the student has a problem with understanding. I found out that when you find that you love doing what you, life would be less stress. It seems like Mr. Girard love math and to him solving math problems was like so easy for him because it look likes that is what interested him. he listened when there were concerns regarding a student that was being disruptive to the entire class making learning the material difficult at times. Everything!!!! I think that Ryan is a fantastic teacher. He made things click in my brain. A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. -Henry Adams. This quote made me immediately think of Ryan and the influence he has had on me. He has taught me and therefore I have taken that knowledge and taught others. I was even offered a tutoring job by the school because of Ryan. I have felt empowered by this class, it has lifted my confidence. I now can help my kids with their math homework. I will move on from this class and probably never interact with Ryan again, but what he has taught me will stay with me for the rest of my life. He is a fantastic teacher and I wish he was teaching my next math class. He helped everone when they needed help. When ever I was missing work he would make sure I would turn it in. His passion to help his students learn and achieve their goals!!!!!!!

I do not have any suggestions. I believe he has the class under control. n/a more lectures on assignments I have no suggestions for improving this course. Math is my absolute worst subject, and it has now become my best subject because of Ryan's teaching skills. do a test on each section/chapter not a mixture of another. such as chapter4.1-4.6 not mixing it with another None NONE He's awsome!

Mr. Girard is firm, he is one of those that does not comprise if you try to make him change his mind when you don't agree with the grade that he gave us. we took it slow, gave me time to really learn the lessons! i think being that the course is highly sequential, my ability to follow is greatly improved. T.M.L hawks learning, and the ability to do practice problems prior to the homework hawkes learning system is a good way to conduct a class because theres a lot of resources inside the program that can be of help if you dont understand the material. ryan also provided some good resources outside of hawkes that were of help. Getting two strikes on hawks His powerpoints Ryan Girard was always well prepared for class. He explained in a way that helped me understand. The enthusiasm of Mr. Girard really helped me learn in this class. He took the time to teach my class and I felt like no person was left behind. Math skills, work sheets The teacher gave us ways to get bonus points. In class explanations I really appreciated Mr.Girard taking the time to explain and not just rushing through everything. He also did power points everyday which were useful. I wasn't a huge fan of hawks. The most helpful part about this course is being in a classroom setting where students were able to ask questions and get a response right there. Also working with the other students was very helpful. The course helped me understand the frameworks of more complicating problems. What i loved about this course was the interaction with the other students. He's a really well organized teacher and he has easy ways in showing us new material in class to help us understand what we are learning a lot better. The most helpful thing about this course was my classmates. Ryan had a very "open door" policy when I needed to see him to go over any course materials, not to mention, even took the time to discuss things pertaining to being a college student that helped re-gain my confidence in wanting to finish school and seek after my dream of getting that elusive college degree!

Mr. Girard seems to care deeply for students and things happening on campus. Always willing to help. Slide shows helped He is approachable. Helped the students for their future Math studies at the school He always did so many power points and graphs. He made so many examples to help students understand the material better. I feel he went over and beyond. Ryan is very helpful and always encourages questions if you don't understand the material. He also tries to help you in anyway possible even if its outside of class time. He is always available even through email and gets all course material to you in a timely manner. He also puts all lecture notes online ahead of time which is very helpful. I like the fact that the instructor encourages us to stick with our own method and/or learn using different methods in-order to find what works best, as long as we get the right answers. Ryan Girard is always willing to help students. and he means it when his office is always open. He offers to give extra help after class if he has the time He's such a laid back teacher that knows what he's teaching. Good sense of humor. He answers questions to the best of his ability. An all around nice, even eager professor to help see his students succeed and even enjoy the course material!

the current program is more than sufficient enough for students of varying levels of intelligience to learn and thrive.i have no input in this section. No more analysis. focus on math more during class hours. he talks about non-math related topics too much and by the time we get around to doing math half the class is done. i feel we should be doing math and only math from the begining of class to the end, if people want to go over announcements and the schedule they can do it on their own time. we are old enough to know when things are due and if we dont know when things are due im sure everyone knows where they can find out. Nothing that comes to my mind at the moment none I know Mr. Girard was really busy this year trying to help open up a class for next semester, but I think it would have been better if he could have made more powerpoints for class lessons because I found those very helpful. Organize slides. Stop going back and forth between slides, I lose interest when he does it To remove the hawkes learning system. I think if you make your tests from Hawks it might be easier for us. The way you would teach and then hawks would teach were of course differnt. That was challenging sometimes when it was time to take the test. I was not to found of the HAWKS because i felt it was very time consuming to do homework, although it did help me to learn the material because it could teach me step by step but at times its very confusing to understand the material as well. No comment. None He's awesome. No need change nothing! I feel like a lot of the time in class was taken up my useless talking. I know part of that was because of my classmates. Also, as much as I know "we should know most of this stuff already," it was hard because, i'm used to teachers actually writing steps down to help us understand it better. i like ryan, he is a good teacher. yes. i find his itchy nose to be very entertaining at times of ambience. it reduces the classes feelings of vulnerability which in return helps open up the mind to learning, more effeciently. T.M.L Ryan is a great teacher and i'm glad he taught me math this semester! Grading is a bit weird, but I got used to it. Also, should make a test that's fair to everyone (he makes the test do that no one is able to get 100%). I feel like doing the analysis is pointless. But, that's just me. None. I enjoyed his class and I would definitely take him again It is easy to get caught up with the technical problems of using computer programs, such as the Hawks Learning System so it will take time getting used to (especially with the graphing). I don't know how to improve the experience for first timers but... it would be helpful if there was some sort of dedicated helper. No comment. Great teacher! Would recommend this teacher for math to any student. I didnt like how we also got off topic in class. I would understand if it was related to math, but most of the time, it wasn't. Its hard to learn something in 50 mins, especially math. That made it even worst to do the homework. We never really go over what's on the homework. The problems on the homework are usually different than the one in class. Other than that the class was okay.

That we used the exploration workbook as a lesson plan to teach the class. And that gave me the exposure I needed to have a better understanding of what being an elementary teacher is like. I found this course very helpful and a huge eye opener. this class has taught me a lot of new things that i have never learned before. ryan has also made me want to move toward being a teacher more. I feel like the student taught exploration projects were very valuable and so much fun. It gets you excited about having a class of your own one day. The teacher was very easy to talk to and everyone got along in our class. I liked that Ryan was always willing to help me whenever I needed it and he was always in good spirits. Personally, I feel that I was able to borden my mind set. This is mostly because when having to go through this course the assignments often asked us to think how a student would reach a wrong answer. This enabled me with an opportunity to really sit down and think about different points of views that others have. There fore giving me more than a course but and opportunity to be more open to other ways of thinking. it helped me to understand how to teach students and what students think Learning to complete assignments, explorations by myself first before asking for the teachers help. Giving a presentation/lesson that was designed by me for 30 minutes, helped me develop more confidence in my work ethics. I liked that we got to role play with the class, getting the feeling of what it would be like to be in an actual classroom with a time limit. Group activities really helps because everyone has a different perspective and way of doing things. Therefore I can learn from my classmates as well. the help from classmates The student exploration lesson project which helped us to see what it will be like to teach a lesson to a class. He was real understanding about times when I had other commitments during the same time as class. He worked with it and made sure I wasnt behind. He is also really easy to talk to. I loved Ryans way of teaching. he was very involved with the students and just did not only preach but was also very involved with the students It was evident that he truly cared about his students and there sucess. He was extremely helpful when needed and a good explainer. He understood what you were going through has a student trying to become an elementary school teacher, and the fact that he could relate made it really easy to communicate with him. His willingness to help me whenever I needed it. Ryan is a very open minded, kind, and hard working professor. There are many things that I have found valuable that I have seen from him throughout the semester. For example, Ryan's care for his students. His door is always open (when he is in his office) if students need help understanding a lesson, project, or why they got something wrong on a test. All together Ryan is an excellent teacher and has provided me an idea of how teaching maybe different compared to children rather than adults. he was a previous experienced teacher that knows how it is to teach a class He was understandable and fair about the work that was given. He tries his best to help us with our homework without giving us the answer right away. He lets us think about it by asking questions as well. He is always available to help students outside of class. He is very quick to respond to emails so I am able to get all the information I need. Ryan is very respectful and makes you feel comfortable in class. He is a very helpful teacher and does his best to make sure you understand the subject and that you're not falling behind. Teacher is willing to help outside of class with flexable office hours and very easy to contact. Instructor is caring and always sets up the students for success. His professional and enthusiastic attitude, and the fact that he was always informing us of scholarship and educational grant opportunities and other school related functions and tutoring programs such as the online smarthink program. Ryan Girard was my only teacher this semester who took time to provide this extra service to students and it was very thoughtful and helpful. Ryan shows concern for his students and encourages us to learn. He gives us tips and ideas about how teaching students will be. The exploration assignment was very creative of him and he gave great feedback. very welcoming and created a comfortable learning environment He was always will to help and explain things during class as well as outside of class. He also made suggestions if he felt there was an easier solution. encouraging, very easy to approach, always made time to be available for his students, good character He always has his door open for questions He was open to new ideas, not just from the textbook but from the students. He also let us openly speak our opinions about certain concepts, and if we were having a hard time understanding a certain concept, he would readily make a fresh example and guide us along more directly, making sure we can see where he's taking the new concept.

I think ryans course was great just the way it is. Very helpful instructor overall it was preety good, not much to complain about. It was a very easy course to follow. There are no suggestions for improvement. Class is great:) -more detailed rubrics for projects/assignments There isn't much that I would say needs to be changed about the course. Ryan does an excellent job configuring the course to compensate for anything that may become an issue for students. Ryan's method of teaching provides students confidence in their ability to get in front of a class and really lead the pack. Talk more in depth about the class work or lectures when giving them. Ryan could spend more time and go in depth about the topic we're learning at the time. For example, go into depth on how we, as teachers, can teach the students. He could give us a base knowledge of how to work with the kids so we can use that to build our own teaching strategy. Also, sometimes we don't finish the explorations we work on in class. I think that's unfortunate for the students, because when the test comes around, we won't understand the problem. its good None, his teaching methods were great and well implemented and the course was a success in my opinion. Ryan is a great teacher. I think to better improve, the explorations should be a little different from what we did. Since it was most of our first times presenting a lesson, we may be better next time. more thorough explanations for certain formulas A better ruberic with more expectations about the Exploration presentation. Over all this class was very fun. The atmosphere was nice. I was comfortable and felt one with the class since we did a lot of group work and doing work on the board. Ryan is a really nice guy. His class was very different from any other math class I've been in. It requires critical thinking, but not the stressful kind like other math classes are. This class is easy but interesting at the same time. It's interesting to see all the new techniques for learning basic math. What we learned in the past is so different from what little kids are learning these days. Very fair at grading and plenty op. for bonus or extra credit. I'm looking forward to next semester Math 112. It would have benefited me if it was an web based course. Interesting class. Maybe having a thought of an online class or a day time course. The class is fun. Fun things keep people's minds hooked. When people's minds are locked on the class, they learn. I had fun in the class, there was never a dull moment. I found many most valuable and helpful things about this course. It helped better understand the concept of math. Being able to understand the subject before doing the certify. The examples we do to better understand the subject was very helpful to me. I Absolutely value math due to my great and helpful math teacher. He really broke down concept and showed us what not to do and why. I really enjoy having Ryan as my teacher. Throughout high school i wish i had him as my math teacher because he actually breaks things down and explains to you more about a problem you dont understand. I found working with other students during class to be most helpful. I found a new helpful way to do long divison " The Scaffolding Divison Method " that when used in topics of everyday life math becomes easier Having to be able to use the class computers are really helpful and valuable to the students because it gives them the oppurtunity to do the assignments and be able to ask the teacher or other students for any help or questions. And also what is helpful is having group works which allows students to work together and be able to understand the problem and solve it. Another valuable and helpful about the course is having to do the work online because i think its more convenient. I found that this course was valuable because my teacher was very helpful. I enjoyed math class along the way I did face some hard times, my teacher help me get back on course and help me understand my math work. I would get confused at home on Hawkes System and it would take me forever to do a assignment. During class it was easier to understand because my teacher would walk you thru steps and help you understand what your doing and why. The most helpful part of this class was when we got to work in groups and did hands on work to understand each lessons. In my opinion, everything he did was very valuable and helpful throughout the semester and course.

Mr.Girard was very helpful in my first semester of math. He cared about each and every student in this class. To the point where if he sees us struggle with a problem he was always there to help and explain each step of the problem. What we did wrong, also he shows us EVERY possible ways to answer the problem. Which i found very helpful because everyone learns at a different pace and he was always willing to put us in groups to better understand the problem and also to learn from others the way they solve there prolem.Ryan Girard is the best math teacher EVER(: hes an outstanding math teacher anyone could ask for. if you need help or stick in a problem he will either match you up with a partner or he will break it down and tell you what mistakes you made or tell you how to start figuring out the problem. He was well informed on the subject and was able to teach in a clear enough manner that all students should have been able to keep up. He breaks down the problems & do step by step with every problem that we might encounter on Hawks or in an exam. that its a lot easier to learn a subject when you have a teacher willing to go out of his way for you What i found valuable and helpful about Ryan Girard is that he is very knowledgable and he finds away to have his students understand the problem in a better way. He makes class interesting and fun to learn with using the materials and his examples. He is also a very understanding teacher and very fair with the students when it comes to work. I felt that Mr Girard was a good teacher, he makes learning fun, helps you understand if you dont. He's always positive and happy, he's always in the best interest of his students to help us learn. Math was always a hard subject for me and I never felt confortable with the subject for my first year back to college after 10 years, I actully enjoy learning math. Although I do have a hard time with math, he very motivating and he helps and want us to acheive a higher grade. He's the first math teacher I ever had that was a great math teacher, and I learned so much from. What was helpful is that he enjoy's his job and love to teach thats why he's a great teacher. He gave helpful specific examples to each question that he answered for the class and it was clear to understand what he was talking about. He is very thoughtful and considerate of other people's problems and concerns math wise.

NO SUGGESTIONS! I LIKE YOUR WAYS OF TEACHING! he has nothing to improve hes doing a wonderful job being a math teacher when teaching a new problem explain a little faster, some times Ryan would loose students durning looog explanations. Also Ryan should try and teach problem solving the way Hawkes does, so to prevent confusion durning home work. I have nothing to suggest or to improve to say, with everything that Ryan provided & taught was very well & he's one of my best math teachers that i had & also made time out of class to answer questions about what i had troubled in class with. Math is the hardest subject for me but working with Ryan has made it easier for me to understand the topic and it actually sticks with me. I highly suggest to continue teaching the subject the same way As far as improving the course, i think having to be able to chat with someone or a tutor on hawkes while working on the assignments would be helpful to the students. So that way if there's any questions or if need help on any problems, the students can directly ask the person. And as far as Ryan Girard's teaching, he is doing a great job teaching and helping his students. So keep up the good work and keep teaching the way you teach. This class should still work in groups, have more hands on activities, and continue with the power point lessons. N/A

He makes the subject very easy and understandable, I am really glad that I took this course with him.... his lectures he is compassionate with all his students Everything. His understanding and one on one counseling with his students Answering questions Ryan knows math, his approach is friendly and easy going. He does expect the work to be done but with little compromises. We should have been given more time to learn the different concepts before moving on the next assignments. A lot of points were taken off for late work. I felt that was not fair because I spent hours on homework that I was not understanding making me late when I finally turned it in. The Hawkes System is always a challenge to work with. has enthusiams That the class is now over and I can learn math from someone else. he taught lessons well, but could be more thorough The course was had good material special with hawkes program. It helped us to understand the math problems, work together with the class math, and gain more knowledge. The course was helpful, valuable, and interesting.

None. none need to show more examples. more group sessions Its very valuable and informative the way he teaches and i like the classes very much move a little slower on subjects Need to take it slower and step by step. I often felt dumb because there was a range of students in the class that understood the work and the one's like me that struggled and was forced to keep up with the others that seemed to know math already. They should not have been in our class. make the warm ups easier. make better analogies More time is needed to complete hawks online and allow for problems that arise and allow for help to be received with out gaining a late grade in the mean time. Be more thorough in lessons, and give more examples for suh lessons. Overall a decent teacher but needs give a bit more info on lessons. Mr. Girard is good teacher, knowledgeable in his field, Honest, and respectful teacher. I like his way of teaching, He make the class math easy, and fun. I recommended to my son for next class.

he was available for tutoring when I needed it and his personality was friendly and approachable. I liked his class. He seems to be animated with explaining the work and that was fun. i liked how each problem was solved out clearly on the board which made it easier to do on my own. All the different places u can get help, if u need it. All the chances to get extra credit and to meet with him was always easy to do. The Dates and time to finish and learn the work. Homework setup is good for college I think. What I found most valuable about the course is how much I've learned and that I actually understand what is being taught in the class, when it comes to math, I always give up and dont want to try. I've noticed that I pushed myself to complete the work and understand the material. In this math class I actually learned, because math isnt my favorite subject! The extra effort put into offering so many options to aid learning was inspiring. I found most valuable the podcasts, study notes and other materials put out make it easier to keep on top of things. none One thing that I found most valuable and helpful about the course was the environment. I felt very comfortable in my class and liked the fact that we can always discuss math problems to not only the teacher, but our classmates as well. It was actually the one thing that Ryan Girard wanted us to do which was to talk to our classmates and find how to get the answers from them. I found that Mr. Girardʻs method of teaching was very practical and easy to grasp. The most valuable information I learned was pretty much everything I will need to know when moving on into higher-level math courses. I learned a lot about Math 25 that i didnt in my previous Math 25 courses. Powerpoint presentations was helpful. The interaction between the students and the instructor! I believe Ryan Girard is a fantastic teacher. He is understanding, bright, and makes the material understandable. The Library!

how he explained the problems and how much detail he puts into each problem when he speaks, he speaks very clearly about what hes try to teach us. when explain a problem, he goes over it, a couple of times, and will keep going if students are still having problems. :) Easy to talk to and knows a lot about the subject hes teaching. His teaching and the way he teach is very understandable for me and the way he teach is perfect. Mr. Girard is an awesome teacher, he helped me understand the material and if i had any problems with the assignment or had any questions he was quick to respond and help me with the problem or answer any questions I had. If I had trouble with the homework and didnt understand he worked with me one on one to try and help me and come up with a new method that I can understand. Again, the extra effort put into the extra materials, this is the first class that I've seen an instructor go to such great lengths to make sure we had all that we needed to succeed. explaining I appreciated how he tries his best to make a positive outlook on the class and the subject that he's teaching. Math is, to me, a stressful subject in school especially if I don't understand what I'm being taught. Mr. Girard would also try to help us in improving our grades as much as we can by giving us things such a extra credit and exam analysis to boost our grades up. The little things can help in big ways. He taught me introductory and intermediate algebra. He is a very compassionate teacher that always has his door open. Emphasizes on the lessons. Makes it more interesting and easier to understand. Very understanding and "fair". He took the time to teach the material! He knows how to communicate with his students! The most thing i found valuable was to pay close attention on how to solve a math problem step by step, and what to avoid when doing the math problem. In this math25 class, I understood more than when i was in my high school class and I know how to solve math problems without getting confused.

I think Ryan needs to teach what Hawkes is teaching He teaches concept but Hawked teaches differently. Sometimes it was not taught in class and you had to learn it yourself at home. nothing he's a great teacher! :) Maybe on test before the problem explain what is the things we will be using in those problems etc,something that would help me and other I think.. the only thing that I would suggest for improvement is to be a little more organized when it comes to homework assignments, and another thing is sometimes we dont spend as much time on certain sections so when it comes to the homework it is a little difficult, so maybe spending more time on the sections, like doing more examples, because everyone learns at different paces. No real suggestions, as I saw it this was as interesting as you can make a math class. In the end, it's still school, and it's still math. That when he teach it should be from hawkes as well, but when he teach is ok. Doing the hawkes hoemework sometimes different from the way he teach making it hard for the student to do the homework sometimes. more examples My suggestions are quite simple. I would like to go to class and learn almost exactly what is on Hawkes. Hawkes frustrates me sometimes and I know I'm not the only one with problems concerning hawkes. I'm glad that we now have the second chances on our homework problems, but I would like to base my learning's in class to the homework and I'm supposed to complete online. Honestly, none. one of my favorite math teachers GO LA LAKERS!!!!! :P LA 4 LIFE! 8) I would recommend this teacher! None none Sometimes it's hard to find out how to get answers from classmates. You might get the right answer, you might get an explanation, but sometimes you get it wrong. I remember there was one problem on the test that only one person got right and when you looked at the persons answer you didn't completely agree with it yourself while you referred that person to the whole class. I would like if you answered our questions instead of referring us to other students. (although that is very effective, some of us may ask our classmates but still want the opinion and answer from the teacher themselves.) Great! Resources available Laulima was an excellent aid for the course, particularly the class notes. I think, its the worksheets and the printable class lectures The use of technology(posting of class notes, u-tunes etc...) was very helpful. Explaining the material in a way that related to everyday life made this subject much more enjoyable. I found that the bell curve as well as the hypothesis testing were valuable information for me to use ::william I find the concept of statistics very intriguing. I do not know if it was helpful but it is a little valuable. I thought the professor was a great help! But the resources were very helpful like: the math lab, having notes posted online & as well as itunes, and having everything avalible online. I really liked the worksheets! The worksheets definitely helped me out with the quizzes and prepare me for the exam. I like how the lecture notes were always there to use as well. It makes things easier to understand and I can still take notes when I need to. I thought that the course was great. He definitely was able to put everything in a way where each and everyone of us can understand. This instructor has been the most involved and caring professor I have ever encountered! He has several different tools that allow you to follow along in the course if you feel you may be struggling. He provides his lectures as an audio and visual through Laulima and itunes, which is extremely helpful.

3. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the course?

OJ Simpson scenario as an example only confused me more. None The textbook didn't seem to be of much use for this particular class. Perhaps the textbook should be recommended instead of required. Of course, the publishers would probably not appreciate this. chapter 9 because it frustrated me Least valuable was the fact that we always do a quiz after the lecture on the next chapter not the chapter we are having the quiz on. Also if we just learned how to use formula's, you change the words to the problem using a synonyms. If you only thought us how to do the problem through the words you used and now you change the words is very unhelpful. I think you should make them aware of this so they can prepare better for quizzes or exams. Nothing, everything was a resource for us. Just the amount of time. I know time was stressed since it was a summer course. Nothing, there were many resources available. Everything was helpful. the text book was useful for homework, but I think we would have gotten along fine without it.

He teach very good and makes the subject seems easier. He gives a useful worksheets and handouts. Itunes audio lectures also makes you to understand the subject better. Great concern for students. A lot of students work and go to school, and Mr. Gerard was willing to adjust deadlines when possible. he makes time for students and replies quickly when messaged He showed his concern for each individual very well. I think he is genuine and cares a whole lot about his class. He caters to a lot of the students and he makes the class very flexible to our benefit. He was very helpful outside and inside of class. I enjoyed being one of his students and I would highly recommend him for future math courses. He was always there for extra time and encouraged everyone to participate in his office hours. It seems to appear that Mr. Girard is truly connected to his students in the sense that he always makes it a point to announce his office hours of availability during each class, he also is prompt in responding to emails sent through the UH system, and is always willing to stay after an evening class to answer any questions a student may have.

Job well done Mr. G. Over all, a great class. I did not expect to enjoy this class as much as I did. Not an easy subject, but Mr. Gerard teaches the material in a way that makes you take an interest. The only suggestion I have, is to adjust the weight of the exam analysis on a students grade. leeward needs to step up their technological game I think this was a good class even though it is hard! I could've, should've and would've done better "if", now that is a big "if" I had applied myself better I would do better. Overall Mr. Girard was a great teacher and very understanding. But if some students like to take their time to understand the material, then I suggest that students take it over the regular semester. You should probably give them fair warning about the summer course and the pace that the material is going to be taught. Thank you so much for everything! Hope you enjoy your time on Kauai soon :) I thought that his class was very easy to understand and all of the resources that was available, helped me to really understand, as well as enjoy my time in the course. I absolutely loved this class due in part to Mr. Girard's enthusiasm in the subject and his thorough knowledge of the subject. The powerpoints was something that was really helpful in class just because of the fact that i am more of a visual learner The powerpoints were very very helpful!!! The fact that it was available on laulima before class started made it valuable to my note-taking and understand of the subject. I find it very helpful that Mr. Girard puts the lecture notes online ahead of time so that we can look at them during class, and I find it very helpful that he always has office hours to help us when we need it. the most valuable for this course was having the power point to help guide us. I found it most helpful that you recorded the lectures and posted the lecture notes. You always announced things in advance and made sure we knew the date. You gave us a lot of opportunities for extra credit. I found it valuable that we learned about fallacies and statistics. Its something i can use almost everyday. The way that he teaches and the calculators that you use. The most valuable elements of the class were the Powerpoint slides. The email notifications that I received as soon as Ryan uploaded the materials was great. On some occassions, there were some errors on the slides that he would immediately fixed, giving the students the correct information. I understand that the book was needed for the class, but we rarely worked from the book except for 'suggested problems' for homework. The bonus points were helpful to our final grade. Several points for attending activities throughout the school, making us, the students, engage in college activities made it more enjoyable to get the points needed to help our grades. I know I need all the points necessary to pass. The online quizes and the problems in the book. powerpoints I enjoyed the Power Point slides which were very helpful. Mr. Girard kept the slides simple also because everything used on the slides was also on the Exams. Mr. Girard is very open and flexible always going the extra mile to make sure you know what it going on in the class as well as giving his students the opportunity to get extra credit. If you miss the lecture, he records the lecture so you haven't missed a whole lot. I wish the Math department had more professors like him and the way he teaches. He keeps everyone interested in the subject. -Fallacies -Statistics -Probability i really was able to learn in this class, my instructor was very helpful in every way possible to make sure that everyone was on the same page and understood exactly every lesson that was being taught each day. powerpoint slides that were reviewed in class that were also posted online was extremely helpful. professor girard is a really good instructor and keeps me interested in the work, which motivates me to learn. What i found most valuable and helful in this course was the different range of helpful material that we covered. He gave us a lot of ways to improve our grades. Lecture notes are online if we missed anything in class. It was more related to every day life. Although it wasn't something I was used to I know that it will help me later in life. After hour time really helped He always help my question after class. His teaching is very kindness.

3. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the course?

there were time where he couldn't answer the students questions, which was okay i guess since no one really knows everything in the world. The projects I thought were a little unnecessary. As a class we could have done them. The exam analysis were the biggest thing that effected my grade; not so helpful. Because how much work on the analysis was determined by how many problems on the actual exam you missed. Also, the textbook was an unnecessary buy because I barely looked at the text since we have all the lecture notes/handouts. The projects. I think it was unnecessary that we were given a project for math. Don't think it helped me understand the materials anymore than just the lectures itself. for me there is not anything valuable about this course. There wasnt much that i found least valuable in the class. A lot of the things we learned really stuck with me even outside of class. Nothing none N/A N/A online quizzes the monty hall project was a bit of a nightmare Nothing really, i enjoyed the class as a whole. None. Somethings that we went over just dont seem relevant to anything. The powerpoint slides The projects were hard and a lot of the overall grade depended on them He give us extra point.

He is really concerned with his students, he always asks if there are question and walks around when doing work in class to make sure we understand the material Great teacher. Great teaching techniques. He is always willing to help the students in class, or during his office hours. He always made sure everybody knew what was going on in class, and he made sure nobody falls behind. nothing He understands that it is hard to keep up with school, life and family for most people. I like that he gives us opportunities to makeup points for assignments we missed. He is fair with the grading and always makes time to see and help his students. He never rejects questions even if they do not pertain to the lesson of the day. He really does try to help his students. He is very helpful and is always there to jhelp you inprove your grade. He wants you to succeed in this course. He deeply cares for the welfare of his students. When students were absent from class, he would still communicate class material via email and Laulima. His timely execution of replying back to emails were great; atleast a 24hr turnaround, if not sooner. n/a Ryan always had an open door for accommodating us during his office hours or by appointment if tutoring didn't help also in the Math tutoring lab. His demeanor and energy is very approachable. Mr. Girard has A LOT of concern for students. He tells us about extra credit opportunities in the beginning of the semester, he creates powerpoint handouts for us to print and use, he even uploads his lectures on iTunes so that we can listen to them. really good instructor, very helpful he genuinely cares for us and wants us to do well. Mr Girard seemed genueinly concerned about his students and this made him very easy to learn from. He always tells us if we have any questions we can stop by his office or wait after class. He wants everyone to succeed so he makes very regular office hours and let's people just come as they please. He constantly reminds us on how we can raise our grade. He makes time to talk and help if there is a need for questions (no matter how stupid the questions seem to be) I think i need Exam's and Quiz's correct answer becasue I cannot still understand for wrong answers.

Overall good teacher, but not so good subject. (MATH 100) n/a I really like Mr. Girard. I don't feel scared to ask him questions or to talk to him one-on-one during his office hours. This is my second time taking math with him, and just like the first time I took him, great teacher all around. This class was really fun and it made learning math a lot easier. He is a very good teacher and I would recomend him to other students. The real world situations that Ryan G. would give the students were exact and to the point. In my opinion, Ryan Girard is a valued instructor at LCC. I urge all incoming/current students to take his class sessions. He tries to add 'comedy' to the material, making it more interesting than what it is. 2. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?

I thought that the powerpoints he prvoided were very useful because I was able tO refer back to it whenever I needed help. Power points were very helpful, nice to print them out before class so you dont have to rush to write everything down Statistical information canbe found anywhere, but do you really know what it means? I gained knowledge on how statistics are calculated and how they may not always be as acurate as I assumed. Good lecture notes that were followed up with reasonable quizzes to help prepare us for the exams. Utunes. PowerPoint. Quizzes. Extra credit I liked the way the teach taught, his teaching style is great. The iTunes lectures. Extra credit was very much helpful in this course! The Powerpoints were also helpful because it highlighted the important stuff! On laulima, there are lecture notes, handouts to print, a schedule, and everything you need for the class. You get extra credit to help you out if your are doing bad. Doing the projects. I thought the power point lecture notes that was posted on laulima helpful. Also I thought the projects were very valuable. There was a lot of sources you can go to for help. The exam analyses I would say the lecture notes because it made it easier to follow the class lectures during class time. I realize that statistics are an important factor to dertermine if statements made are right or wrong, or, neither right or wrong. The powerpoints, in-class worksheets, and the doing the work in groups. The notes online were very helpful Working in groups in class was very helpful. The Lectures and quizzes. The powerpoints and the class worksheets were most helpful during this course. How media use survey. There are many inappopriate statistics in election. The worksheets before we had our quizzes and having group quizzes. He gives out lecture notes to make it simple. Rather than just letting you read the book to study. There are some things that I missed when I was in grade school that I just learned in this class. One of them is percentage. I find this most valuable because percentage is used daily, in stores and everywhere else. This is a concept that everyone needs to know, because it is used everyday. The notes that were posted on laulima were very helpful and quite easy to understand. The power point of every lectures, example quizzes, and all the steps of how to create excel file and graphs. i found the powerpoints most valuable. Professor posts notes and lectures online. Learning how to perform the different calculations that can be applied to everyday real life situations How Mr. Girard engaged the students into the lecture making it more interesting and keeping all thinking.

3. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the course?

Actually, nothing. He provided a lot of resources which helped a lot in order to be successful in his class. The projects, they didnt teach me anything about statistics. I think more time to review before exams may have been helpful. Exams were pretty strict and if you make a mistake it'll really hurt your grade on it. Project. Book. Wasted my money for the book. nothing. everything was good Regardless of the fact that I do well on the projects, I felt it had no impact on my learning experience. The projects were not very helpful. Exams suck, not like any other math class before. Too many word problems that are worth too many points. N/A There wasn't anything least valuable or helpful. The book and homework assignments. The projects. It is relevant with the topics we learned in class (example standard deviation, average, etc) but not relevant with the processes we learned in class. these projects should be for the IC classes and not for math class. Information overload. Right when I think I got it, we're on to another subject. Now I have to remember what we just learned while learning something else. The power point handouts were helpful. We were able to follow him during the lecture, take notes, and use it as a study tool. I was not able to get on itunes and the othere computer stuff, it was hard to do but I'm glad other students were able to. I'm sure it would've been helpful to hear the lecture again to kind of put the pieces of the puzzle together but I just couldn't get it up and running. The book, we hardly used it. nothing The projects. Although they taught us about excel the connection to the material we covered was not made. Strictly lecture style teaching. Sometimes just going over the power points and lecturing is not helpful. Does not work a lot of examples on the board. Very easy to fall behind and not be able to catch up. Not anything really. Got down to stats business. group quiz The projects seem irrelevant to what we were learning. N/A It is always good to be knowledgeable about everything, but some things are not just as useful as others. For instance, learning the Z and t-distribution is one of them, although these may be valuable to others who will make use of it. The lectures in class were a little unorganized and maybe weren't covered enough to best help the students. The text book helped little in the course. i found the book least valuable. He gives everything you need to know in laulima. There was not enough practice of math problems in class, so things were confusing. Least valuable is that I feel we won't use all the material in the real world unless we get a job as a statistian. Most helpful is the slides and the audio recordings to refer back, it's very helpful. although i'm sure it's better than nothing but i didnt like the recorded lectures.

He always made himself available to students if ever there were any questions. he was always open to questions, if you didnt understand something then you could always have it explained again Class never ended early, due to the fact that we had so much material to cover. However I still feel that more time for reviews would have made his students feel more comfortable with the material. Especially because almost every equation was new to us. Very fair. Has office hours if you need help and he also gives many opportunities for extra credit. Very concern he was always concerned about the students. always asking if we understood everything His concerns were clear, he wanted us to do well and understand the subject. He shows his concern for the students by encouraging us to come in during office hours and to also use the Math Lab. He really does wants his students to succeed so that's ALWAYS a plus! He helps you out if you need it. Very helpful. He was concerned for students who did not understand the material. And he gave us many different options to get help. He was very helpful and was willing to do whatever he could to help his students out. I think Mr. Girard makes himself available for extra help and is easy to talk to. After each exam analyses it's the students responsibility to put their grade for the course making students responsible for where they stand. Mr Girard is constantly encouraging students to meet with him for any questions and/ concerns. always willing to help. always let us know of changes in his office hours so we can maximize the availibility of outside help. Mr. Girard spoke clearly but I disagreed because it was still hard for me to grasp the concept so understanding was a challenge. I was too shame to ask too many questions although Mr. Girard reminded students of his availability. I felt like I was the only student who couldn't put two and two together. I was glad that he mixes up the students to work in groups during in class assignments learned alot from my fellow classmates. I put neutral for Mr. Girard using time well because I felt he uses class time too well (hehe). He is punctual, consistent, organized, and focused. He will not waste time but uses every minute towards class lectures and in class assignment. If class goes over in discussdion, he redirects everyone to get us back on track because time is of the essence. Again, information overload; so much information all at once, everyday. Whew! He no futt around. He encouraged us to get out and utilize the resources available to us on campus. I felt that I could go to his office during his office hours to ask him questions about the material and any questions I had about my grade on the exams and quizzes. Overall concern for students is great. He does not want anyone to fail. I could visit his office. And ask question easily. Also his reply for e-mail was fast. He makes himself available and encourages students to stay after class if they don't understand something. He always ask his students if they have any questions before continuing to the next chapter. When class starts, he lecture the previous chapter just in case other students who missed the class understands the next chapter. Ryan Girard is very knowledgeable about his subject it seems like he has all the information at the back of his head. His voice is very clear and understandable even on the iTune which he upload for his class daily. Everything is so well prepared, he came with is thumb drive with all the presentation on it. He does not wast valuable time in class looking for things because he is always ready. Very helpful when someone missed a class and really tried to help them get back on track as well as pick up where he left off with new material. Always thinks about his students well being in the class. He is helpful and explains well when a student have question about examples in the lecturers. i felt brushed off sometimes when i tried to ask questions. He seems very concerned about students learning the material for class, and asks often if we understand. Understanding the concepts and what the calculations mean together. Mr. Girard shows concern and care for his students. He always offers for extra help and is willing to stay after class to help answer any questions.

Awesome teacher! I am not happy about the fact that there was no review for the cumulative final exam. Very good teacher. Powerpoints get a bit boring at times. Overall I give him a good 9/10. i love this teacher You should have more handout practices for all chapters that would be really helpful for future students. Besides just the book work, handouts help a lot especially if it's the main points of the material you want us to study. None 3 I would recommend Ryan Girard to other students to take his class. This class was very fun and I learned a lot. Take his class for sure =D Mr. Girard is enthusiastic about stats. I think statistics is just a hard course. I would recommend Mr Girard's class to other students. I think more hand outs on definitions and concepts would help make some concepts discussed in the class easier to understand. The homework problems were not as helpful as the hand outs and/ group work done in class. I think it maybe beneficial if Mr. Girard including something on what he is grading on. His lecture notes were helpful but were kind of scattered compared to the book. I think a little more organization on the notes would be helpful. Mr Girard makes himself available and is easy to approach to talk about projects, exams, and/ grades. Any students who is concern or just has questions Mr Girard is available. Mr. Girard likes to teach and it shows which is also beneficial to the student. very challenging course but I believe it takes a great teacher to take on such a challenging course and ryan really helped with that :) As I mentioned above, the handouts given are helpful to follow along during lectures and a great study tool. I cannot say if I would recommend this class because it was a difficult class for me. But, if you needed statistics, Mr. Girard is a great choice. I'm sure the online assistance such as itunesU would've been a great learning and study tool but I just couldn't download it no matter how I tried. In fact, I asked another professor to help me and even she couldn't get it up and running. I am glad that other students were able to get it because that's a great way to refer back to lectures and hopefully help put the puzzle pieces together after hearing it twice or even get you on the same page when you miss a class. All I can say is that I did my best and so did Mr. Girard. Thank you for the opportunity of learning statistics. The points for the multiple choice questions should have counted less because if you got 2 wrong on that section you already lose 12 points and that's a lot. Balancing out the points on exams is something you should look over. Almost half the points on the exams consisted of vocabulary terms which contributed nothing and did not do a fair job of evaluating if you knew how to do the math material (which should be the main focus of the course). The exams are graded very carefully. You need to dot your i's and cross your t's trust me. Go above and beyond for tests. I enjoyed this course. Thank you very much. The material was easy to understand, but the paste we learned was difficult because Girard gave us little time to grasp everything we've learned. We had to focus on new things when we just ended another subject. He put a lot of things to learn and do over the whole semester which was a small amount of time. N/A I always try to print out his power point before each class because it follows his lecture exactly as he teaches. The power points have all the information I need that I think I don't even need to buy the book he recommended use to buy. Please add more concept checks at the end of each lecture. I didn't feel their was much of that. It would have helped more especially for a course like statistics, which is a class most students have trouble with. Multiple choice questions should not be worth 4-6 points. We should get more of our points in larger problems. Very good professor, passionate about subject, but there is not enough practice in class with math problems/worksheets. The worksheets are good to do in class because you get practice in, and the professor is right there if you have any questions. This makes it easier to learn the material and do the homework by yourself later. He is a great teacher and would recommend him to anyone taking this course.

I think Course Compass was very helpful when it came to learning the material and It made it easier to solve problems I didnt understand. It broke it down step by step and I also liked how it had other options for help. Professor Girard made sure we understood the material and during his lectures he would write down problems on the board and did step by step. Ryan was very helpful. If i didnt understand a problem he would try his best to teach us how to solve the problem. He has many extra credit points, and that is also helpful if your having problems with the class. the most valuable and helpful about this course is the teacher and students. Everything. I'm sure I'm not going to use all of this in the future but it is a good thing to know and to have. The professor! Because he took things pretty slow and made sure everyone understood before going to the next section. He also tried to find ways to explain a lesson by linking it to something we might be interested in, like football games or even using the students as an example. Everything he did helped me a lot and bettered my understanding about math. My Math Lab was the BEST part of the class when it came to really studying in preparing for an exam. Professor Girard really made himself available and approachable for students to ask questions or voice concerns for not only math but future planning for other math courses. Reviewing in the beginning of every class about what we learned the class before was very helpful. It made sure what we learned stuck with us The instructor constantly used REAL LIFE situation along with math equations to show that, there is an actual purpose for these equations. Not just some made up things for a math course. The instructor is always willing to help a student outside of class time All notes for the whole class is available online and lots of extra credit to bring up your grade. i find extra credit opportunities helpful. and the how his lectures and lecture notes are available for us just in case we miss class wow i found it helpful to give me exactly about every formula of each lesson and most about every example for each formula and it helped me to understand each lesson easily. Even though I feel like this class was too easy for me and that I should have been placed higher, it was very refreshing. I got to review things I learned in high school and some things that I even forgot how to do. The online questions, and analysis for the exams.

none :) Nothing Nothing the textbook! Taking notes in the beginning about basic material. Nothing. n/a i found nothing about it. I didn't find anything that WASN'T valuable I just knew a lot of the material already. The math notebook that we had to organize.

Willing to help If you had any questions or help he made himself available and if you werent able to go during his office hours just email him. He responds fast :) He really is concern about his students progress. He always have reminders and always keeps the class undated about anything. He is a very good teacher, wouldnt mind taking him for a higher math class. He walked around and helped any student who needed a little extra help. He also helped students borrow some class materials if they were unable to get them. He did everything he could to help and teach us students. He really puts his time into helping students that ask for help. Professor Girard truly cares about the success of his students. He is very open to questions, never seems irritated if students do not understand a certain problem and is full of energy and optimism every single class period. He made sure we understood what he was teaching by reviewing after every chapter before moving on to the next. He made it easy for us to ask questions if we needed help. He is very helpful inside and out of class. n/a i felt great when i learned math because teacher was helpful and happy and funny. He was the best teacher. Thank you Professor Ryan cared about each of his students, didn't favor anyone, and was always available when needed. Really helpful teacher and gives a lot of time to helping his students.

Professor Girard is an awesome teacher and I would highly recommend to any student that has a difficult time with math like I do. His enthusiasm for math makes you want to learn :) Great work Professor Girard! One of the best professors I have ever had. Professor Girard provides so many extra credit opportunities that not only allows students to boost their grade, but exposes one to opportunities around campus. Because of Professor Girard's extra credit opportunities I've learned of many services LCC has to offer and have better prepared myself for furthering my education. I plan to take the next two math courses with Professor Girard and recommend his classes to any and everyone who needs to complete math courses! i like how there are exam analysis' because it helps us know what mistakes were made. i want to thank you to him because he gave me a grade knowledge about this math thank you very much.

Teacher's lectures, exam analysis and the assignments online. Its a refresher for my brain, since I had this topics in high school a while ago. This course helped to remind my about the properties of logs. Mr. Girard's powerpoint and the way he explain the materials. It made it easier for me as a student to understand. I found Wileyplus very helpful. It gave me 3 chances to redo my problem until I got it correct. Group quizzes were helpful as well. Made new friends too! All the extra work given to us to learn the material more in depth and how he was always available if I needed help. He has a lot of resources to help us I thought his powerpoint presentations were sometimes helpful. The material can be used outside of the classroom. Not only in other classes but in everyday life. Wiley Plus Practice Problems. Though most people didn't care for Wiley Plus, the Practice Problems were a great help. They had a feature that showed step by step how to do a problem so that if I was really lost, I could find myself again! new concepts such as using i to replace negatives and the log and ln keys. It was well taught and was made easy to understand everything and be able to follow and not fall behind. Having alot of example problems and trying to do some as a class and others by ourselves and then checking it made it more understandable and was good practice. The power point lectures were a effectively visual way of learning the course. you explained everything in great detail and very thoroughly. you made concepts easy to understand and carefully took us through step by step! i found the in class notes very helpful about this course. hw on the wiley plus was also a good thing to help us prepare for the quizzes and exams. the notes helped me somewhat complete the hw Everything! Mr. Girard is an excellent teacher. He gives more than enough resources, is always enthusiastic to help, and actually wants his students to learn. All notes were necessary, thorough and helped greatly in preparing for homework, quizzes, and exams. Prepared notes online before class, posted lectures through pod casts, and gave chances to regain points in many different ways. The thing I found most helpful was the way he taught the course. He made himself readily available out of class. He tried his best to apply what we learn and how it relates to 'reality'. He provide lecture notes on every lessons. He used his time well. He give options to get our grades higher. For example, exam analysis, and dropping quizzes. The lecture notes which were posted online really helped me throughout this course. It allowed me to focus on the problems rather than trying to write down everything that was on the slides. Giving powerpoints in advance so we know what we will be learning.
