Great teaching style. Keeps us alive in class despite the late afternoon class. Very interesting course and the class envrionment and structure really encourages class participation. Something other professors dont really do.

Great Class. Would definitely take Prof. Suarez classes again. Enjoyable as well as though provoking.

Dr Suarez is a really wonderful professor I ever have. She makes our class more fun and an hour is pass by really fast. Dr. Suarez made this class interesting and taught it in a way that made students enjoy coming to class. The group discussions allowed real life application to the concepts being taught.

a good teacher would be an understatement. Lectures are more like open class discussions and continuously keeps class involved. Good approach and well suited for higher level learning. Professor Suarez should continue to teach this way and possibly hold workshops for other professors. She is such an important asset to the Shidler college of Business.

Dr. Suarez is a passionate teacher and the class was very interesting. She was very supportive and made me want to learn and come to class. She also encouraged our creativity in the projects assigned.

Great teacher. What a grad course should be like. Just the right amount of work and discussion.

I really enjoyed the class discussions

This class should be a full semester. There was a lot of applicable content that we were unable to cover due to the short time-frame of the class. Given the relatively small amount of courses offered from the business school for the Fal 2012 semester, this could easily have been removed from this semester and offered as a full course in the fall.

From the first class, I felt a connection with Dr. Suarez that I rarely feel with professors, and judging by the lines that form to talk to her each break period, she has had the same effect on many of my classmates as well. A first-rate discussion leader, Dr. Suarez is able not simply to lecture but to lead students to the information she is trying to convey, so that her students come away with a sense of ownership of the subject they are studying. Her class is a favorite of most of my cohort, and the most engaging class I have had at UH so far. Finally, she has gone far beyond reasonable expectations to accommodate my unusual needs as I struggle with a personal problem this semester, demonstrating just how much she cares about her students and her subject matter. I look forward to working with her in the future.

I think the expectations were not very clear in the syllabus and Suarez would have to explain it a couple times to the class. Other than, I enjoyed the class. It was different and made me think in different ways.

I really like the open discussion and personal stories that you shared. You are very knowledgable and you made us think by providing open minded assignments. This was a refresher since it help us stimulate our thoughts above and beyond just looking for the right answer.

A written grading rubric or requirements for the papers would be helpful.

She really cares about her class content and her energy is visible, throughout. All of my classmates go out of their way to express their appreciation for the class, and its value to the MBA education.

Very supportive and encouraging. I am glad I was part of her teaching. She has never failed to motivate me. Indeed, she provided that "much needed" force of motivation, which served as my second brain and third eye. An Ethical and morally dignified Professor!

I loved this class; it set the groundwork for other HRM classes without being boring. Professor Suarez knows how to get us to think and participate in class.

Class discussions were very effective. Going over the laws multiple times to learn and understand the rights of the employees were very helpful because it is very essential and a needed knowledge for any business.

Class interaction was very effective in learning about the course material. It was very fun and we got to know our classmates on a closer level when there was a relatively large amount of people. It was very refreshing to see that creativity was encouraged in putting together a presentation. This made the group project a lot more fun and we were able to see unique presentations on the chapters we went over.

Professor Suarez is an EXCELLENT professor, and I have taken at least three of her courses. I am currently working on applying for Grad-School because of her and her influence. Good teacher, good class

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this course. I thought it was quite interesting and insightful. The professor was wonderful. She was very enthusiastic about the material, which is extremely important because students can't be interested in the material if the professor doesn't care about it. I thought the assignments were just the right amount. You don't want to give the students too much or they will turn in half-ass work. At the same time, however, you don't want to give too little or they wont learn. Therefore, I thought the assignments required was just the perfect amount. I usually like to leave one recommendation for the professor, but I can't think of any at the time. If I do think of one, I'll email the prof and let her know.

Dr Suarez's personality made this course. It is clear that she is passionate about the material.

Loved the discussions in this class. Didn't even need to browse the Internet to pass the time.

Great course. Dr. Suarez was consistently well prepared and truly listened to the concerns and questions of students and engaged them in a thoughtful and respectful way. My main suggestion would be to somehow stimulate more classroom discussion -- perhaps turn the presentations into a more interactive experience; one in which the group leading facilitates a classroom discussion on the topic.

Dr Suarez is a fantastic teacher. She gives great lectures which get you thinking about the course and material.

I was concerned with the large gap between the text book chapter learning and the exam. But after taking the exam I realized that it was everything we should already know without cramming the knowledge into our minds before a big test. In hindsight, it makes sense why there was a gap because the test was merely to show us we all knew the information.

Maybe when we choose the group presentations next time, split the presentations in half and only have the groups choose a pres date from the first half, then once all presentations from the first half are filled up, just assign the same groups in that order to the last half of the presentations. It just makes it fair for all groups to go once in the first and once in the second half of the course, instead of having 1 or 2 groups finish their presentation within the first half of the course. Other than that, thank you so much Professor Suarez for another great class. I appreciated all the comments you gave us from our group presentations. It really does help when we get feedback right away on what we need to work on or what we are doing right. Mahalo.

I enjoyed taking this course with Professor Suarez. She made learning the material fun and easier to remember in such a short amount of time. I thought that this class was going to be boring and long after seeing that it was a 3 hour 15 minute class. However, after taking the course and being engaged in the class, time went by fast and I learned a lot!

The structure of the class is very easy to follow. This helps me with understanding the course material because I spent less time trying to figure out what needs to be done and more time in the actual work. I feel like it would have been nice to study a book on how to use a pay program or something that taught me more about the pay programs themselves. maybe more activities in which we figured out what job was actually best for what pay program. the online version of the book was a good idea and cheap, but sucked.

Excellent prof that cared genuinely abotu the students. Always was there to help and was super flexible.

I started this class thinking I wouldn't enjoy it. I was worried about "fluffy" topics. Dr. Suarez challenged me and converted my narrow mind within one lecture. She has so much energy and great examples. She also has no problem staying late after class discussing with students. I have never seen such or long line to speak to professor or discussion amongst students as I have in her class.

I was very happy with this instructor compared to the other 3 teachers this semester. She communicated exactly what she expected of us. She gave clear examples of our assignments and homework. She is well organized and prepared for class. She grades fairly and provides feedback on assignments in a very timely manner. She is helpful and responsive to any inquiries. She is VERY enthusiastic for the subject and provides many personal experiences which enhance our learning. I believe she is a perfect fit for this position and this subject matter.

Dr. Suarez was extremely helpful with any questions I had and made sure that I understood everything I had trouble with. She gave excellent feedback and I truly learned from her. She was very passionate and open in teaching ethics and made the class very enjoyable. I would like to take a class from her again in the future.

I liked how the class was structured yet allowed room for flexibility so we could research what topics we were interested in. Also, there was a nice balance of lecture, projects, cases, and discussions.

One of the best professors I've come across in the Shidler program. Dr. Suarez is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work and inspires and engages her students. I think she did an excellent job in making the most of each class and trying to fit in as much relevant material in the short 1/2 term class. I think the Shidler program needs more professors like her. I came into the class not having much interest in learning the subject but she was able to turn that around. One of the better classes I've taken.

This class could probably do without a final exam. Writing assignments seems more fitting.

Prof respects each individuala's idea and thoughts, very flexible in allowing studnet to decide on how they would like to submit their assignments within the deadline.

Ms. Suarez is a consummate professional, and represents UH in a highly ethical manner. She really "walks the walk".

I thought this class was different and interesting since we did not have a textbook. This was the first course that we learned based on the student's research and presentations.

The format of the class was a refreshing experience. I learned a lot through the group presentations and professor Suarez strongly encouraged class participation. Good Teacher, Fun learning environment

Great Professor! Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this subject matter! Very professional and easy to talk to.

Professor Suarez is a very good teacher. She allowed the class to be interactive in class discussions which helped the class learn the material. She was very well organized and wants the students to succeed in the class.

There was a lot of confusion for me in terms of the projects and papers since most of the information that was given to us was by mouth rather than written in the syllabus or given out as a hand out. Most announcements were also made in class, so they could have been easily missed by one or more people in a group.

Absolutely awesome teacher!! I'd strongly recommend her to other students; clear, well- organized, and enthusiastic teacher. Very understanding, democratic, yet firm and strong teaching style. Good balance between pedagogy and andragogy in the class between the teacher and students. She's the only professor that I've never felt drowsiness in the class not even once! Learned a lot of good information.

Participating in a large class with dominating speaking students is sometimes difficult. Overall, your teaching style is great and your enthusiasm really carries the class. Thank you for a wonderful semester!

Great teacher. I enjoyed the in class discussions.

Professor Suarez is accessible to her students, and willing to go out of her way to help students succeed in her class. She brings a good amount of business experience to the classroom. I did, however, dislike that 40% of our grade was based on group projects/presentations. It is hard enough to get together for one group project in a semester, let alone two. Also, I respect that students have a right to voice their opinions and are encouraged to actively engage in class discussions, but Professor Suarez should limit the amount students are allowed to speak so that it does not detract from our learning experience. We had a student in our class that insisted on putting his two cents in on everything! He talked almost as much as Professor Suarez. This was annoying, and took away from my learning experience.

I like the idea of a very interactive classroom setting where questions, answers and comments are welcome. However, it was not easy for some students like me to just jump in to a conversation as the more talkative students run the discussions. At some point, it drove away from the main topic of the day and cut into the time of other agendas. Suggestions may be to call on people so as to give others the chance to speak up and make sure that discussions don't go too long.

GREAT TEACHER!!! Makes class fun and gets students to participate comfortably.

Dr. Suarez is a fantastic professor and I would be more than happy to take future classes with her. She explains concepts and ideas very well and makes the class interesting and fun to attend. I hope other students have the opportunity to learn from her in the future.

Her ability to utilize real work experience is invaluable. She also has the ability to present thoughts, ideas, and concepts to the class in a sensitive manner. And she also shows her ability to address an issue without compromising the individual(s) involved, a testament to her understanding of management.

Great teaching skills with an obvious passion for the subject. Class discussions were fun and involved many different personalities without much conflict due to Dr. Suarez's excellent moderation skills. I would definitely take another course Dr. Suarez was teaching.
