13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Has a strong interest in the subject and knew most of the material.
She knows the subject very well
He is a good teacher and she is very kind, and treat students very equally.
Professor Roberts provides a lot of information about the section that we are studying. She is very knowledgeable about the subject and provides power point and visual aids such as pictures and videos. She encourages students to ask questions and answers them the best that she can. She is also available if we need help with any of the class work or assignments.
She asks students to always ass questions or mention any problems if they had any. She was also reachable both in and out of class.
. She tried to encourage students. . When I asked questions on email, she replied and gave me advice quickly. And the advice was sufficiently helpful. . The contents of her lecture was interesting and attractive.
She is passionate about what she teaches and knows the material very well.
Her ability to pass on her passion for Asian cultures is very effective for students to understand the information being passed on.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I believe the powerpoints were too long and wordy. Each slide was filled with words and too many slides which i believe made students uninterested. For future papers, some examples for students to look over would be nice to give them a good idea how you would like your work formatted.
Explain the topic more clearly
She is very good teacher, and such a nice person. But, if she can change her way of teaching a little, it may be great. For example, let student do a group discussions or group works. Or, let students do a small assignments and check answers in the class.
The only thing is that I didn't like writing in APA format since that is a format you use for science or psychology papers. I think MLA would have worked just fine.
Room change, while under construction. The room smelled like it was burning or there was tar or glue. Sometimes very hard to focus.
. Her schedule through the course seemed perfect, but actually she could not finish what she wanted to teach. I think the reason was too much contents. . Her lecture style was showing sentences on PPT slides while explaining about it. However, actually if she give me all slides before the lecture, I would not attend her class. Actually, I attend there every time to write my name on attend lists. Therefore, she has to improve her way to teach.
I would make tests in individual segments rather than a conglomeration of multiple continents.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
always reminded us about due dates.
N/A
She reminds students assignments a lot. Also, she give a lot of advice and suggestions for assignments.
She showed concern for students by trying to help students who needed help and would answer students questions about the subject.
Always asks students for their opinions, reachable both in and outside of class.
. She often announced about papers directly and on email by the due date. . She always carefully answered questions from students in her lecture and on email.
She would contact you about any things you missed. She genuinely cared for her students.
She informed students of every changing events in class and also kept reminding us that she was available to talk to students individually.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
YES!
Yes and no. The class is not hard but there is alot of reading involved and the lectures just feel too long and boring.
Yes
Yes. She is a good teacher.
I would definitely recommend her students, especially if they really enjoy Asian culture. The class is fun and interesting. You have to do a research paper at the end of the semester but she lets you choose any topic as long as it has to do with Asia in some way.
Yes I would recommend her.
