Air Eligibility Certification
Effective Jan. 1, 2005

The "Air Eligible" marking has been deleted. Beginning January 1, 2005 any shipment that requires a shipper to complete a Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods must have the statement "I declare that all of the applicable air transport requirements have been met" on the declaration. The statement can be in the Additional Handling Information section or following the certification statement.

Diagnostic/Clinical Specimen Shipments
Effective Jan 1, 2005

Diagnostic/Clinical Specimen shipments will require a diamond marking inside which is UN 3373. The marking must be 2 inches by 2 inches minimum. The proper shipping name "Diagnostic Specimen" or "Clinical Specimen" must be adjacent to the marking. The name, address and phone number of a responsible person must be on the Air Waybill or marked on the package. Outer packages are now required to be rigid. The outer package must have one side with a minimum dimension of at least 100 mm x 100 mm (4 in x 4 in).

Overpacks
Effective Jan. 1, 2005

When overpacks are used the marking "Inner packages comply with prescribed specifications" will be replaced with the marking "Overpack". This "Overpack" marking is required on all such overpacks, including those containing Limited Quantity packages.
