Community Recycling Bins

 

The following recyclable items may also be dropped off at the City & County’s Recycle Hawaii community recycling bin located at the entrance of the Hale Aloha dormitory driveway on Dole Street.  More information can be found at the City & County's recycling website (http://www.opala.org)  Please read the following DOs and DON’Ts for each item carefully.

 

*   Aluminum cans

*  Paper, colored office paper

*   Cardboard

*  Paper, white office paper

*   Glass bottles and jars

*  Plastic beverage bottles (milk, juice)

*   Newspaper

*  Telephone books

 

 

 

 

 

DOs and DON'Ts for Recyclable Items

Aluminum cans

*   Rinse

*   Crush

*   Deposit loose in MIXED CONTAINERS section

*   NO plastic bags

Cardboard

u     Corrugated cardboard only

u     MUST flatten boxes

u     NO cereal boxes, detergent boxes, tissue boxes, etc.

u     Deposit in PAPER section

Glass bottles and jars

*   Rinse

*   Remove lids

*   Labels OK

*   Deposit loose in MIXED CONTAINERS section

*   NO plastic bags

Newspaper

u     NO plastic bags

u     Remove magazines and inserts

u     Deposit loose in PAPER section

Colored office paper

*   Colored bond paper only

*   MUST be separately sealed in bag or box

*   NO envelopes, junk mail, tape, stick-on labels, rubberbands, magazines, newspaper

*   Deposit full bag/box in PAPER section

White office paper

u     White bond paper only

u     MUST be separately sealed in bag or box

u     NO colored paper, envelopes, junk mail, tape, stick-on labels, rubberbands, magazines, newspaper

u     Deposit full bag/box in PAPER section

Plastic beverage bottles (milk, juice, soda)

*    Rinse

*    Remove lids

*    Crush

*     Deposit loose in MIXED CONTAINERS section

*     NO plastic bags

Telephone books

u     Do not bundle

u     NO plastic bags

u     Deposit loose in PAPER section

u     ONLY during Verizon Hawaii Telephone Book Campaign: June - August
