UH Scientific Diver Qualification CourseSponsored by the This course is designed to meet the diving knowledge and skill
requirements for authorization as a Lecture Sessions: Tuesday and Thursdays, 5:30-8:30 PM Topics will include: Applied Physics and Physiology; Field Equipment Troubleshooting; Dive Planning and Air Management; Decompression Theory, Dive Tables and Dive Computers; Physical and Biological Diving Environment; Navigation, Dive Vessel Operations and Seamanship; Diving Rescue and Accident Management; Introduction to Specialized Diving Modes. Openwater Dives: Saturdays, 8:30AM –3:30 PM (2 Dives per day) Training exercises shall include: Out of Air Emergency Protocols; Diver Rescue; UW Navigation; Night Diving; Deeper Diving; Search and Recovery; Underwater Mapping and Survey Methods; Limited Visibility Diving. Cost: $300.00 (approx.) Includes Textbooks, registrations, SCUBA cylinders and air fills, and boat charter. Divers must provide own SCUBA equipment meeting UH DSP regulations, or make prior arrangements with the DSO. Prerequisites: Open to all UH Scientific Divers or Divers-In-Training.
