GHS Update

New for 2013 – Global Harmonization System (GHS) Training
In 2012, OSHA revised its Hazard Communication (HazCom) Standard to align with the United Nations Global Harmonization System (GHS) for Chemical Classification and Labeling. We in EHSO have developed updated training which covers important GHS topics, including new chemical label requirements and the standardized format for Safety Data Sheets (formerly MSDS). All affected University employees must receive updated training by December 2013.

Who needs GHS Training?

  • All UH employees who may come into contact with hazardous chemicals
  • Both laboratory and non-laboratory employees

For Laboratory Employees who received general Laboratory Safety Training before January 1, 2013, click here for GHS/SDS online training

For Non-Lab Employees who received HazCom training prior to January 1, 2013, click here for GHS/SDS online training

Note: To schedule Lab Safety Training see http://www.hawaii.edu/ehso/lab-safety-training/ for a list of dates/times.
