David Flynn serves as the primary collection development librarian and reference contact for Accounting & Taxation, Finance, General and International Business, Management, and Marketing. Additional selection areas include Economics and Travel Industry Management. David is also very active in web development and library instruction.

David joined the faculty of the University of Hawaii at Manoa Library in July 1998 after several years of professional experience at Indiana University and also abroad at Huron International University in Tokyo. He earned his Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from Indiana University and the Master of Arts (MA) in Communications from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM). He also earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business from Miami University of Ohio and a graduate certificate in Telecommunications and Information Resources Management from UHM.
David is an active member of the American Library Association (ALA), especially in the Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS) of RUSA. He recently served two terms as chair of the national Business Reference Sources Committee and was nominated for a national election to chair the section. He also served two terms as chair for the Thomson Financial Student Travel Award Committee. He has also served on the exective board of the Hawaii Library Association and the Senate Executive Committee for the University of Hawaii at Manoa Faculty Senate.
Recent presentations and publications include "The Value of International Experience" in Journal of Business & Finance Librarianship (Haworth, 2008), "Seeking Peer Assistance: Use of E-mail to Consult Weak and Latent Ties" in Library & Information Science Research (Elsevier, 2005), "Harnessing PR Magic" at the 2004 ALA Annual Conference in Orlando Florida, "Outreach and Marketing" at the 2004 Midwinter Institute, ALA Midwinter Meetings in San Diego, and a chapter on core accounting web resources in The Core Business Web (Haworth Press, 2003). Susan's connection with the Shilder College of Business is twofold; she is the primary selector for management information systems, and also a doctoral student in the Communication and Information Sciences Program, now hosted by SCB. She also selects materials, and provides reference and instruction services for other Hamilton Library subject areas such as environmental studies, geography, library & information science, second language studies, and women's studies.

| Susan has been a member of the library faculty since 2001, after graduating with a master's in Library & Information Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is very active in the Special Libraries Association, and is past president of the SLA Hawaiian-Pacific chapter. |
