Find Articles & Journals


Note: Use a database or index to locate articles. The "find it" icon indicates that the database is OpenURL enabled; and will link you to full text content if available, a UHM catalog search, or to interlibrary loan. Otherwise, to find a specific journal title in electronic format, search the library's list of electronic journals. Use Hawaii Voyager to find paper (and some electronic) formats for specific journal titles.

ABI/INFORM Global

ABI/INFORM Global is the premier business and management database providing extensive coverage of North America and the world. Find research on advertising, marketing, economics, human resources, finance, taxation, computers, and more. Indexes about 1,520 journals and includes article full-text for more than 780, many with graphics (full-text available to UH Manoa campus users only). Includes information on 60,000+ companies.

Academic Search Premier

This multisubject database provides full-text from 3,288 scholarly journals covering social sciences, humanities, education, computer science, language & linguistics,and arts & literature. The database is updated daily.

ACM Digital Library

Bibliographic information, abstracts, reviews, and the full-text for articles published in ACM periodicals and proceedings since its founding in 1947 are available in the library together with selected works published by affiliated organizations.

Business Source Premier

This EBSCO database provides full-text from 2,804 scholarly journals and business periodicals covering management, economics, finance, accounting, etc. The database is updated daily.

Bimonthly journal provides coverage of recent literature in all areas of communication studies(mass, interpersonal and new communication technologies).

Computer Source

Provides researchers with the latest information and current trends in high technology. This database features over 240 full text periodicals covering valuable market information in computers, telecommunications, electronics, and the Internet. Through EBSCOhost.

EBSCOhost

fulltext (except for past 12 months)access to 4,800 journals covering multiple subjects. This link takes you to the complete suite of databases available.

Emerald Fulltext

Covers the major management disciplines including, marketing, HR and organizational development, library & information management, quality and operations management. Coverage also includes accounting, education, science & technology, healthcare, and communications. Contains the full text of journal articles published from 1994 to date, in both HTML and PDF format. Abstracts are also provided for articles back to 1989. Offers email alerting service.

ERIC

indexing over one million journal articles and documents on all educational levels and subjects, ERIC goes back to 1966. Access through Cambridge Scientific Abstracts or EBSCOhost.

IEEE Xplore

1988-present: free access to citations and abstracts for IEEE journals, conferences and standards; full-text access to IEEE journals and conferences articles from 1998 to present, including Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) proceedings; license does not include full-text access to IEEE standards.

INSPEC

1968 - present: citations with abstracts for journal articles and conference proceedings covering the fields of physics, electrical engineering and electronics, computers and control engineering, and information technology.

Library & Information Science Abstracts

International abstracting and indexing tool designed for library professionals and other information specialists. LISA currently abstracts over 440 periodicals from more than 68 countries and in more than 20 different languages. Link to fulltext of many articles using "find it" button.

Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA)

Library, Information Science and Technology Abstract (LISTA) indexes more than 600 periodicals, plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s. Link to fulltext of many articles using "find it" button.

PsycINFO

Provides citations and abstracts of international journal articles, chapters, books, technical reports and dissertations in psychology and related disciplines. Produced by the American Psychological Association, it covers over 1,400 journals, representing professional and scientific literature from over 50 countries going back to 1887. Psychology& Behavioral Sciences

Nearly 480 full text titles covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry and psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.

ScienceDirect

Search over 30 million abstracts from scholarly journals and access full text of most from 1997 to present. Offers email alerting service.

Sociological Abstracts

Indexes and abstracts the literature of sociology from 2,700 journals and other serials, books, dissertations, and conference papers published worldwide. Coverage is from 1963 and includes all facets of sociology and related disciplines including anthropology, criminology, education, law and penology, race relations, social psychology and urban studies. Web of Science

Index with citations/abstracts only 1980-present:
Multidisciplinary citation searching index covering the journal literature of the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Covers approximately 7,500 journals selected by ISI using citation counts.



Dissertations


Dissertations & Theses

Includes bibliographic citations for the doctoral and masters work of authors from over 1,000 graduate schools and universities dating back to 1861. Citations for dissertations from 1980 forward include abstracts, and from 1997 on full-text is available for over 100,000 titles deposited with UMI.

University of Hawaii Theses & Dissertations

Theses & dissertations published earlier than 1997 can be found also using the Hawaii Voyager Library Catalog. UH theses are ususally available in both print and microfiche.

Electronic Theses & Dissertations

Searchable,browseable archive from Virginia Tech.

Networked Digital Library of Theses & Dissertations

Search and browse for ETDs in the NDLTD Union Catalog which contains entries from multiple members institutions (hosted by VTLS).

Community of Science (COS) Funding Opportunities Database

Index (with citations/abstracts only): Information on funding opportunities announced by federal agencies, state/provincial organizations, commercial entities, non-profit foundations, professional associations, etc. with an international scope. The largest and most comprehensive research-funding database on the Web. Updated daily, includes more than 23,000 records, representing over 400,000 funding opportunities and grants worth over $33 billion.

FC Search: The Foundation Center's Database

Index (with citations/abstracts only) CD-ROM: Ask at the Business-Humanities-Social Sciences Reference Desk.

Scientific literature digital library - Over 7 million pages. Over 5 million citations - Brought to you by NEC'ers Lee & Giles.

Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies

Over two million references (mostly to journal articles, conference papers and technical reports), clustered in about 1400 bibliographies, and consists of 660 MBytes of BibTeX entries. More than 18,000 references contain crossreferences to citing or cited publications. More than 130,000 references contain URLs to an online version of the paper. There are more than 2000 links to other sites carrying bibliographic information.
