Kinesiology is the study of the mechanics of movement in human beings, especially in physical education. According to the University of Hawaii Manoa Department of Kinesiology & Leisure Science, leisure science helps others “achieve a higher state of wellness and better use of leisure time” through management.
Bachelor of Education graduates of the program teach P-12 physical education.
Bachelor of Science graduates include athletic trainers, exercise physiologists, sports nutritionists and fitness specialists.
Master of Science graduates can specialize in athletic training and physical education/adapted physical education.

Multi-disciplinary full text database containing full text for nearly 4,650 serials, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 8,200 journals.
CAB Abstracts
Covers the significant research and development literature in the applied life
sciences, including agriculture, forestry, human nutrition, veterinary medicine
and the environment. Additionally, CAB Abstracts includes molecular biology,
genetics, biotechnology, breeding, taxonomy, physiology and other aspects of
pure science relating to organisms of agricultural, veterinary or environmental
importance. This database offers abstracts and indexing for journals, serial
publications, conference proceedings, books, theses, annual reports, patents & standards and dates back to 1973.
CINAHL with Fulltext
via EbscoHost 1981 - present
Full text for more than 580 journals indexed in the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature.
ERIC-CSA (Educational Resources Information Center)
The ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to educational-related literature.
ERIC (via EBSCOHost)
ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center, is a national information system supported by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Library of Education, and the Office of Educational Research and Improvement. It provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. ERIC provides full text of more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 1000 educational and education-related journals.
Google Scholar
Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations
Access this database through the library proxy server to link to full-text articles.
JSTOR
Provides full-text journal backfiles in various disciplines. The JSTOR project's primary goal is to build a reliable and comprehensive archive of important scholarly journal literature. Selected journals in the following subject areas are available: African-American Studies, Anthropology, Asian Studies, Ecology, Economics, Education, Finance History, Literature, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, Population Studies, Sociology and Statistics.

MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more.
Physical Education Index
via CSA 1970 - present. Physical Education Index includes records from peer-reviewed journals, report literature, conference proceedings, trade magazines, patents, and articles from the popular press. Beginning in January 2001, the database includes abstracts. Subjects covered include physical education curricula, sports medicine, dance, sport law, kinesiology, motor learning, recreation, standardized fitness tests, sports equipment, business and marketing, coaching and training, sport sociology/psychology, health education and physical therapy.
PsycINFO
PsycINFO provides citations and abstracts of international journal articles, chapters, books, technical reports and dissertations in psychology and related disciplines.
PubMed Medline (index with partial full-text)
Provides free access to over 11 million citations from MEDLINE and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources. If the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) Library has a subscription to the full-text site, logged in users will be able to view the full-text. To view the citations with UHM links, change the "Display" drop-down menu to "Abstract".
Sociological Abstracts
Index with abstracts to the literature of sociology from 2,700 journals and other serials, books, dissertations, and conference papers published worldwide. Coverage is from 1963 and includes all facets of sociology and related disciplines including anthropology, criminology, education, law and penology, race relations, social psychology and urban studies. Over 2,500 new records are added monthly. Access is through Cambridge Scientific Abstracts.
Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded)
Multidisciplinary index covering the journal literature of the sciences. Allows searching to find papers that have cited a particular citation, as well as searching by topic or author.

Dissertations and Theses
Dissertations & Theses (PQD&T) includes bibliographic citations for the doctoral and master's work of authors from more than 1,000 graduate schools and universities dating back to 1861. More than 750,000 dissertations and theses from 1997 on have been digitized and are available for PDF download.

Gatorade Sports Science Institute
Provides latest research by the institute. Sports library topics range from improving sport performance, diabetes and competitive sports, to the importance of measurements in testing in athletic training.
