Bibliographic Databases in Linguistics
Search access a collection of databases in linguistics held by the CL/MT Research Group at the University of Essex.

Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts
Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. Complete coverage is also given to various fields of linguistics including descriptive, historical, comparative, theoretical and geographical linguistics. Dates covered are from 1973 to the present.


MLA International Bibliography
The MLA International Bibliography is a subject index for books and articles published on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics. It is produced by the Modern Language Association (MLA), an organization dedicated to the study and teaching of language and literature.

Web of Science
A multidisciplinary index covering the journal literature of the sciences (Science Citation Index Expanded) as well as both the Social Sciences Citation Index and the Arts & Humanities Citation Index. Approximately 70% of the records have author abstracts. Online coverage from 1980 to present.

It has references and in some cases abstracts of articles from over 3,660 journal titles, books, gray literature, internet material, conference proceedings, government and ngo documents and statistical publications. 1915-present.


Psycinfo
PsycINFO provides citations and abstracts of international journal articles, chapters, books, technical reports and dissertations in psychology and related disciplines. Produced by the American Psychological Association it covers over 1,400 journals, representing professional and scientific literature from over 50 countries going back to 1872. Chapter and book coverage includes worldwide English language material published since 1987. Use the Find It button to link to fulltext journal articles.


Sociological Abstracts
Sociological Abstracts is an index with abstracts to the literature of sociology from 2,700 journals and other serials, books, dissertations, and conference papers published worldwide. Coverage is from 1963 and includes all facets of sociology and related disciplines including anthropology, criminology, education, law and penology, race relations, social psychology and urban studies. About the Linguistics Collection

 

The Linguistics collection contains approximately 15,000 books and many current subscriptions to periodicals and other serials supporting interests in Linguistics, as well as thousands of other books and journals in related fields. The collection reflects the focus of the Department of Linguistics, emphasizing descriptive and comparative linguistics, general linguistic theory, language contact and variation, ethnolinguistics, language development, and language data processing.

The department's interests in Asia and Oceania result in heavy use of the Asia, Pacific and Hawaiian collections. Materials in the areas of language disorders, neurology, artificial intelligence, linguistic data processing, mathematical linguistics, electronic data processing are housed in the Science and Technology collection.

Other Resources

The Tsuzaki/Reincke Creole Collection, housed in Special Collections, is a catalogued collection of materials of special interest to pidgin/creole scholars as well as to sociolinguists and ethnolinguists.
