About the Peace Studies Collections

Scholarship on peace issues may be approached by investigating many subject categories, including politics, history, economics, social justice, religion and art. This multidisciplinary nature necessitates a wide ranging research methodology engaging the gamut of library and web resources. Materials can be found in the General Collections, as well as the Hawaiian-Pacific, Asia and Government Documents collections. The collections include over 20,000 books and seventy active journal and newsletter subscriptions to publications on peace, nuclear war, arms race theory and international affairs.

Note: The number of books and serials were calculated by combining the title count from the relevant Library of Congress Classification areas of JX,JZ,U, and UA. The figures are based on the 1997 North American Title Count (University of Hawaii at Manoa Library) and active serial subscriptions.
