Assistant Specialist, position number 88665, Environmental Center, (Manoa), non-tenure track, 50% FTE, Part time, 11-month, general funds (with the possiblity of conversion to full time contingent on generation of extramural funds by applicant). Duties: Assess environmental research needs for Hawaii, the Pacific and Asia; develop funding proposals for environmental research and education projects; assist as needed in the environmental education and other functions of the Environmental Center. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. (in hand or completed by December 31, 2004) in environmental management or an environmentally related field; demonstrated research capabilities in that field. Desirable qualifications: Demonstrated ability to work with a team as well as independently; broad interdisciplinary knowledge in the fields of water resources, environmental management, environmental assessment, water quality, ecology, natural resource management, land use planning; experience writing grant proposals and scientific reports; knowledge of undergraduate and graduate environmental education. Pay range: S3, $1,790 minimum per month for 50% FTE, salary commensurate with qualification and experience.
