Our location on the park-like UH campus also offers easy access to Honolulu's many attractions. The lovely beaches, green mountains, and cultural, entertainment, and shopping centers are within easy walking distance or by public transport.
With all these advantages, we think you'll agree that there is no better place to learn and use English than here at HELP in beautiful Hawaii!
What is our program about?
HELP is an intensive English program for students whose first language is not English. HELP is focused on training students in English skills for college or university study, but we welcome anyone who is interested in improving their English for academic, professional, or personal purposes.
HELP is part of the Department of Second Language Studies of the University of Hawai'i, recognized as a global leader in research and training in the teaching of English as a Second Language. Many of HELP's outstanding faculty members come from this department.
Location and overview
Started in 1971, Hawaii English Language Program (HELP) is a program of the world-renowned Department of Second Language Studies at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, the main campus of the state university system.
Our facilities are located on the lower UH Manoa campus near the main sporting and recreational sites of the university. HELP students have ready access to all the resources of the university, including the sports facilities. Our location offers a comfortable and casual setting where students and teachers have ample opportunity to interact. In addition to our classrooms, we have a Student Lounge where students can relax when not in class, borrow books from the student library, or just have lunch or a snack. Our computer lab is where students can surf the Internet and read email from home, type and print homework assignments, or watch DVDs and videos. We also offer complete wireless internet connectivity for students with their own laptops.
