Purpose: To help students' understandings for environmental issues and energy consumption, and provides an opportunity to have a global outlook through collaboration among various states across America.

Objectives:

• Develop an awareness of environmental issues
• To identify human activities that may create changes resulting in unbalanced ecosystems
• Demonstrate an appreciation for the environment
• Demonstrate an understanding that humans have the responsibility to care for the environment and its natural resources.

Hawaii Content Standards

Overview: Each participating school will research and discuss what is NOx and its effect on the environment. Each school will receive a NOx measuring kit to measure the amount of NOx in their community. The results of the NOx measurement and what children have learned from the project will be E-mailed to a coordinator and will be posted on this website. Children will share drawings of how they can help the environment.
