Federal ACG

 

The Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) program provides grants up to $750 for the first academic year of study and up to $1,300 for the second academic year of study to needy (Federal Pell Grant recipients) U.S. citizens who have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study.

 To be eligible for the ACG Program you must meet the following criteria:  

  • Be a U.S. Citizen;
  • Be a Federal Pell Grant recipient;
  • Be enrolled Full-Time;
  • Have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study (after January 1, 2006 for first year, and after January 1, 2005 for second year);
  • If a first year student, not have been previously enrolled in an undergraduate program;
  • If a second year student, have a UH Manoa cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on first year credit hours.  First time transfers must have at least a 3.0 transfer GPA on first year credits.
  • Be enrolled in either the first or second academic year.  First year students must have completed between 0 and 29 credit hours.  Second year students must have completed at least 30 credit hours but less than 60 credit hours.

 A rigorous secondary school program is defined as completing and passing at minimum the following courses:  

  • 4 years of English
  • 3 years of Math, including Algebra 1 and a higher level class such as Algebra II, Geometry, or Data Analysis and Statistics
  • 3 years of Science, including one year each of at least two of the following: Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
  • 3 years of Social Studies
  • 1 year of language other than English
