Overawards
|
|
Once you have been awarded financial aid and you
receive any outside resources that we were not aware
of, you may be in an overaward
situation. What this means is that we
must then recalculate your financial aid awards and
collect a portion of the financial aid you may have
already received.
Overawards may occur but are not limited to the
following reasons:
- You receive additional aid (examples include,
but are not limited to: scholarships, tuition
waivers, third party payments, etc.)
- Your residency status changes
- Your housing status changes
- Verification information changes your expected
family contribution
- Your enrollment is below full time enrollment

|
If one or more of the above situations occur, Financial
Aid Services is required to re-evaluate and adjust your
award as necessary. Per federal and state regulations and institutional guidelines, financial aid
awards may not exceed a student's cost
of attendance. Changes to your award offer
may result in a financial obligation to the
University of Hawaii.
