Appeals
You have the right to appeal the Satisfactory Academic Progress
decision. However, the submission of an appeal is only a request and does not imply that
a financial aid hold will be removed or that approval of the appeal is forthcoming. The appeal must be submitted to our office in writing and should
demonstrate that unusual circumstances occurred which was beyond your control.
All appeals must include the following information: Student's name, identification number, telephone number and local or mailing address. This letter
must also include the facts or reasons attributing to the student's inability to maintain stated standards. If the student possesses extenuating
circumstances, such as medical reasons or the death of an immediate family member, documentation must accompany the appeal.
Excessive Hour Appeals must include a graduation plan from your Academic Advisor.
We strongly recommend a second letter from either a University of Hawaii at Manoa official or other third party to support
your case. A decision will be reached within ten (10) working days, however during
peak periods the process could take up to 4 weeks.
You will be notified via email at your hawaii.edu
