Foreign Language and Area Studies Awards (FLAS)
Every Semester, the Filipino and Philippine Literature Program awards 3 scholarships to existing students of the University of Hawaii at Manoa:
(1) $1,000 scholarship for BA in Philippine Language and Literature majors
(2) $500 scholarship for minor in Filipino students
Deadline for application: 3rd or 4th week of each semester.

Advanced Filipino Abroad Program (AFAP)AFAP is a 7-week intensive language and culture study abroad program funded by Fulbright-Hays and administered by the UH-Manoa Filipino
Program. A national competition is held every year and selected members of the Consortium for the Advancement of Filipino select the participants to this summer program held in Manila, Philippines from June to August.

Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute (SEASSI)SEASSI is an 8-week intensive language program held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A number of fellowships and tuition waivers are available for students who wish to participate in the program that runs from June to early August.
Deadline: usually February/April of every year.

Foreign Language and Area Studies Awards
The Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa is administered by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies.
Academic year FLAS: a $15,000 stipend and tuition up to $12,000. Stipends are usually disbursed in ten monthly installments. Summer FLAS applicants must enroll in a formal program of intensive language study with 120 contact hours in advance language or 140 contact hours in intermediate language.
Deadline for application: usually in February every year
