USCIS to Resume Premium Processing Service for Form I-140
From June 29, 2009, USCIS will offer Premium Processing Service for I-140s for EB-1 Outstanding Professors/Researchers, EB-2 Professionals with Advanced Degrees & EB-3 Professionals

E-Passports Required for All VWP Emergency or VWP Temporary Passports
Effective July 1, 2009, all Visa Waiver Program (VWP) emergency or temporary passports must be electronic passports (e-Passports) to be eligible for travel to the U.S. under the VWP.

New System for H-1B Labor Condition Applications (LCAs)
Starting April 15, 2009, the U.S. Dept. of Labor will implement a new system for filing LCAs.

NEW Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)
Mandatory for Visa Waiver Program participants starting January 12, 2009

FSIS WILL BE CLOSED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:

November 27, 2009
December 21, 2009 to January 1, 2010

  • No pickups or deliveries can be made during the above dates. Immigration advising and other services such as travel endorsements will not be available on the above dates.
  • J-1 exchange visitors: If you have DS-2019 requests that must be processed before January, please submit them to FSIS no later than December 11. Otherwise, please make special arrangements with Kathy Todoki. If any J-1 scholars arrive during the administrative leave dates, please have them contact Kathy by email at todoki@hawaii.edu to make appointments for registration/orientation in January.
  • H-1B, TN, & O-1 employees: We have contacted the units that have H-1B, TN or O-1 employees whose statuses will expire in the next 2 months regarding extensions.  If you have requests for new H-1B, TN, or O-1 employees, including those for permanent residence, please submit them to us no later than November 30 so we will have sufficient time to process them prior to December 18. If we do not have enough time to complete the request in December, processing will be suspended until we return to the office on January 4th.
