Mills is a glass and mixed media sculptor and an Associate Professor at
the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He recently taught glass casting at the
Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. He received his BFA from
Ohio State University and then an MFA from the University of Hawaii. In
1986, Mills received a Creative Glass Center of America fellowship, and
1988, he was a research fellow at the Royal College of Art in London,
England. Through the years, his work has been widely exhibited locally,
nationally and internationally in places such as the International Glass

Crossings 1989
France-Hawaii; solo exhibitions at the Contemporary Museum, Hawaii in
1995, and Friesen Gallery in Seattle, Washington in 1997. He recently
completed a large glass frieze commissioned by the State Foundation on
Culture and the Arts for the Hawaii Convention Center. His sculptures and
blown glass are in numerous collections such as the Hawaii State
Foundation on Culture and the Arts; Glasmuseum, Ebeltoft, Denmark; Royal
College of Art, London, England. |
