THE GAPP HISTORY In 2000, the Globalization Research Center (GRC) convened an international steering committee to refine the conceptualization of an infrastructure that would support the work of researchers studying globalization phenomena. The committee made a series of recommendations to develop a portal, based upon a set of modules, and to allow users to share complex datasets. The GAPP has developed an interactive matrix that is comprised of research clusters and processes, allowing users to produce sophisticated explorations of globalization. The research clusters, ranging from health to movements of people to environmental changes, allow scholars from various disciplines to come together around concrete research problems. Each research cluster reflects not only the processes of globalization, but also allows the GAPP to compile a wide array of globalization data and information.
