Globalization, Fairness and Public Institutions Conference
Under the co-sponsorship of the Public Administration Program and the Hawaii Research Center for Futures Studies, Jim Dator, Dick Pratt and Yongseok Seo invited thirteen scholars and practitioners, primarily from Asia, to discuss "Globalization, Public Institutions, and Fairness: How public institutions--governmental and non-governmental--in East Asia are responding to globalization."
The event was designed as a dialogic conference and emphasized extensive discussion in response to twelve questions provided by the organizers. In addition to the thirteen who traveled to Hawaii for the conference, a number of UH faculty and several graduate students participated as observers and session commentators. Beside the support received from the Globalization Research Center, the conference was supported by the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, State of Hawaii, with additional help from the World Academy of Art and Science and the Center for Korean Studies at the University of Hawaii.
