Change in Degree Objective/Plan or Enrollment Status

Students in the following cases need to submit to the Graduate Records Office a memo of approval from their graduate chair. East-West Center grantees need to submit the center's "Request for Action" form along with the memo.

  • master's students who wish to change from master's to doctoral within the same academic discipline (bypassing the master's degree program)*
  • doctoral students who wish to change from doctoral to master's within the same academic discipline
  • special non-degree students who wish to change to degree status
  • degree students who wish to change to special non-degree status **

* For students who have completed their master's and who are seeking admission to the doctoral program in the same academic discipline, see Current Master's Students Applying for PhD Programs.

** Change from degree to special non-degree status will result in the cancellation of any achievement scholarship or graduate assistantship.
