Credits by Exam

Type of Course Allowed Graduate students may obtain credits by examination for undergraduate courses required by their degree programs only and not for courses numbered 600 or above.
Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for credit by examination, a student needs to have a GPA of 3.0 or above and present evidence that he or she has had experience or training equivalent to that offered by the course.
Procedures

To apply for credits by examination, a student needs to complete an application form, obtain the appropriate signatures as indicated on the form, and pay the fee at the Cashier's Office. The form is available at the Graduate Records Office.

The course instructor will prepare the examination, which must be more comprehensive than the usual final examination and serve as the scholastic equivalent of the course.

Required Grade and Notation on Transcripts

In order to receive credits, a student must obtain a grade of B or above for the exam. There is no limit on the number of such examinations that a student may take.

Credits earned by examination will be noted on the transcripts as credits with the CR/NC grading option.
