Overview |
| |
|
The Department of American Studies at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UHM) offers a graduate certificate program in museum
studies, which provides formalized training for individuals
interested in pursuing careers in museums and related institutions.
Students in the program learn about the roles and responsibilities
of museum professionals — such as caring for and displaying
collections, providing educational outreach and public services,
and increasing the participation of native/indigenous peoples
in the respectful presentation and use of native cultural
resources. In addition, students learn about the efforts of
museums to increase revenues by turning to cultural tourism
and heritage activities, and to attract and engage non-traditional
visitors through innovative approaches.
For more information about the Department of American Studies,
see MA in American
studies.
