The Shidler College of Business at the University
of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UHM) offers a number of graduate
programs that prepare students for business leadership in
Hawai'i and the Pacific Basin. The primary emphases of the college
are international business and business applications of advanced
technology. Students receive a solid foundation, both theoretical
and practical, in the structures, functions and objectives
of business enterprise.
The Shidler College of Business is ranked in the top 25 among the nation's best graduate
schools for international business by U.S. News & World
Report. It is the only graduate school in Hawai'i accredited by the
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB
International) and is a member of the Graduate Management
Admissions Council. Many of Hawai'i's top business leaders
are graduates of the college.
Graduate students have access to personal computers in the college's
three microcomputer labs. An extensive library of software
for business applications and several research centers are
also available. The UHM library offers a wealth of information
to the students. The Asian Collection in Hamilton Library
has a heavy concentration of statistical materials related
to South and Southeast Asia. Business information on other
Asian countries is also available in the collection. More
than 175 databases can be searched for references.
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The MBA program provides a solid academic foundation for
professional careers in management. The curriculum stresses the development of analytical and decision-making skills required of top-level managers and executives in both the
private and public sectors. The day-time program is designed for full-time students, while the evening program is geared towards working professionals and part-time students. Students may select electives
tailored to their individual needs and interests, and have the opportunity to participate in international exchange programs. More info: mba@hawaii.edu
Neighbor Island MBA
Using video over IP technology, MBA courses taught at the
UHM campus are broadcast to Maui, Kauai, Kailua-Kona,
and Saipan. The next admission intake is for Fall 2011.
China International MBA
This 21-month program leads to a China-focused AACSB accredited
MBA degree and a China-focused management certificate from
Sun Yat-Sen University School of Business, ranked among top 10 business schools
in China. The program includes one year of MBA core course
at UHM, nine months of elective course work at Sun Yat-Sen,
a three-month internship in China, and intensive business
Mandarin courses. The program is ideal for individuals who
plan to work for a company based in China or for a company
with strong ties to China doing business in the United States.

Japan-focused MBA
This 21-month program co-developed by the Shidler College of Business
and the Japan-America Institute
of Management Science (JAIMS) offers a curriculum that balances the practical and theoretical aspects
of conducting business with Japan. This program leads
to an AACSB-accredited MBA degree. The program begins in August
of each year and consists of 18 months of course work at UHM
and at JAIMS, plus a three-month internship program in Japan. The program is designed for English-speaking participants
who come from a wide spectrum of cultural backgrounds.

U.S. International MBA
This 18-month program leads to an AACSB accredited
MBA degree awarded by the UHM. The program is offered in partnership with the Sun Yat-Sen University School of Business. Applicants must be first-year business students at Sun Yat-Sen who wish to spend their second year of study earning an MBA through the Shidler College of Business. The program consists of one year of MBA core course
at Sun Yat-Sen, eight months of elective course work at UHM,
and a one- to two-month internship in the United States. All courses will be taught in English. The program is geared toward Chinese and international individuals who wish to conduct business with the United States or other Western countries. More info: usimba@hawaii.edu.
Executive Master of Business Administration
(EMBA)
This 22-month program closely parallels the regular MBA
in curriculum content. The program is tailored to highly motivated
managers who seek to meet the challenges of today's marketplace,
maximize their leadership potential, to become more valuable
to their organizations and to take on a larger leadership
role, to refocus their career directions, and to increase
their opportunities for advancement. Classes are uniquely
scheduled to allow working individuals to participate with
maximum convenience to themselves and their sponsoring organizations.

Executive MBA in Vietnam
This 24-month program co-developed by the Shidler College of Business and the Hanoi School of Business is conducted in Hanoi and in Ho Chi Minh City. Students will learn from an integrated, modern curriculum that incorporates core business disciplines with cutting-edge business practices including management of information technologies, entrepreneurship, e-business and Asia-Pacific global business strategy. Modeled after the Executive MBA program conducted in Honolulu, the program is taught by UHM faculty.

Juris
Doctorate/Master of Business Administration (JD/MBA)
The JD/MBA dual degree program is a powerful combination
for those preparing to practice law in a corporate setting,
to work for the government, or to manage a not-for-profit
agency. The program requires a total of 122-128 credits. Prospective students
should apply for admission first to the William
S. Richardson School of Law. The first year of law school
is prescribed curriculum; students are not allowed to take
any courses outside of law school. For this reason, students
should apply to the MBA program after matriculation into law
school. The Shidler College of Business will accept LSAT scores in lieu of the required
GMAT scores. Students in the joint degree program typically
begin their business course work during the second or third
