Overview |

Educational technology deals with the complex and integrated
process of the systemic application of technology in all aspects of human learning. The Department of Educational Technology at the University
of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UHM) offers a graduate program leading
to the MEd in educational technology. The
curriculum merges the development of practical knowledge
and skills with a solid understanding of theoretical and research
basics. Emphasis is not placed on electronic or mechanical devices, but on the application of such devices to plan, design, implement and evaluate different strategies for creating an effective and efficient learning environment.
The department offers an online version of the MEd program for busy professionals and international students who are unable to attend courses at the UHM campus, due to either time or distance constraints. Approximately 80 percent of the course work is completed online, while the remaining 20 percent is facilitated by face-to-face (F2F) sessions.
Graduates of the program pursue careers in formal educational settings, as well as in companies and agencies that engage in training for employees or clients.
