- official GMAT or GRE scores — in the top 25th percentile
- official TOEFL scores — 600/250/100 or above (Required

- teaching potential as demonstrated by previous teaching
performance, if available (recommended)
- research interests compatible with faculty research at the college
(recommended)
- international experience (desirable)

as Japan or China area studies (desirable)
* Applicants with course deficiencies who are otherwise qualified
may be admitted. They must make up the deficiencies by enrolling
in master's level courses, before they may be advanced to
candidacy.

The Shidler College of Business at the University
of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UHM) offers a PhD program in international
management. With a particular focus on Asia and the Pacific,
the program prepares intellectually gifted students for research
or teaching careers at the university level. This full-time
program emphasizes a strong foundation in both methodological
and theoretical training. Students may choose to specialize
in one of the following areas:
- Asian finance
- global information technology management
- international accounting
- international marketing
- international organization & strategy
The Shidler College of Business is ranked in the top 25 among the nation's best graduate
schools for international business by U.S. News & World
Report. It is the only school in Hawai'i accredited by the
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB
International) and is a member of the Graduate Management
Admissions Council. Many of Hawai'i's top business leaders
are graduates of the college.
Graduate students have access to personal computers in the college's
three microcomputer labs. An extensive library of software
for business applications and several research centers are
also available. The UHM library offers a wealth of information
to the students. The Asian Collection in Hamilton Library
has a heavy concentration of statistical materials related
to South and Southeast Asia. Business information on other
Asian countries is also available in the collection. More
than 175 databases can be searched for references.
