Admissions Requirements
 
Prospective Students

1) Graduate Division admissions standard and documentation requirements, and
2) program specific admissions criteria and documentation requirements
    (see below).
 
  • master's degree in nursing from a NLNAC- or CCNE-accredited program (Exceptions will be considered for international applicants.)
  • completion of course work in statistics and basic research or equivalent
  • graduate program application form
  • graduate program supplemental information form (download form)
  • statement of objectives (download form)
  • current resume or CV
  • sample of academic writing
  • two letters of recommendation (Use form provided by the graduate program. One from a former faculty member and one from an agency supervisor.)
  • interview with a specialty adviser
  • Hawaii Board of Nursing license or application for license
  • health and liability insurance (Contact the graduate program for details.)
  • official TOEFL scores — 580/237/92 or above (Required of most non-native speakers of English. Click here for information on exemptions.)
 

Submission of Program Specific Documentation Requirements
With the exception of TOEFL and GRE scores, all program specific documentation requirements should be sent directly to the graduate certificate program.

If required, official TOEFL and GRE scores should be sent to the Graduate Admissions Office. Please note that GRE scores may be required by the graduate certificate program (see above) or by the Graduate Division (more info.)

 
Current UHM Graduate Students
To apply for admission, submit a completed Concurrent Graduate Certificate Application (download form) and application fee to the Graduate Admissions Office.
 
 
 
Program Overview
 

The School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UHM) offers a post-master's certificate program in nursing. This certificate program permits students with an MS in nursing to pursue clinical course work in a second nursing specialty.
