Program Overview

The Public Administration Program at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UHM) offers a graduate certificate program in public administration. The certificate is a year-long program designed to accommodate individuals at a point in their public service career where they want to reflect on what they or their agency are doing, but who are not necessarily interested in pursuing a master's degree.

For more information about the Public Administration Program, see MA in public administration.

Certificate Requirements

Students enrolled in graduate certificate programs at UHM need to meet certificate requirements set by the Graduate Division and their certificate programs. For general Graduate Division requirements, see Degree Requirements < Graduate Certificate. Below are requirements specific to this certificate program.

This certificate program requires 15 credits of course work, 14 of which are taken from the MPA program's core year. The remaining one credit is the special seminar series, which participants design at the end of their program to focus in greater depth on learning objectives of special interest.
