| Program
Overview |
| |
|
The University of Hawai'i at Mānoa (UHM) offers a distance-learning graduate
certificate program in telecommunications and entrepreneurship. This multidisciplinary program targets new hires and
junior professionals in the areas of computer science, electrical engineering and physics, as well as professional military personnel in similar and related areas. Participants in the program have the opportunity to explore the latest developments in telecommunication technology, while enhancing their understanding of the entrepreneurial and marketing aspects of this technology.
The program culminates in a capstone project, for which participants will design, develop and market an innovative telecommunication technology. Sample projects may include wireless networks in different propagation environments, broadband or multiband antenna technologies for specific wireless applications, or emerging wireless technologies such as the software radios and the ultra wideband communication systems. As part of the capstone project, participants will be required to enter their engineering projects in the annual Business Plan Competition organized by the Shidler College of Business. A panel of faculty and professionals from industry will review and evaluate the projects.
