
Welcome to the Hawaii
Center for AIDS (HICFA), formerly known as: Hawaii AIDS Clinical Research
Program (HACRP), website. We are part of the University of Hawaii John A.
Burns School of Medicine. The HICFA is an academic program in HIV with
clinical, translational and laboratory research studies in HIV and a clinic
providing care to HIV infected patients. HICFA includes the Hawaii AIDS
Clinical Trials Unit (HACTU), 2 research laboratories - Hawaii HIV Immunobiology and Vaccine Laboratory (HHIVL),
the Molecular
Medicine and Infectious Diseases Laboratory (MMID), and the Clint Spencer Clinic.
Our mission is to:

Conduct clinical and translational research to evaluate optimal therapies for HIV infection and AIDS-associated complications

Conduct basic science research to increase our understanding of HIV and its complications

Provide access to clinical trials for the HIV infected population in Hawaii

Facilitate the transfer of research findings to clinical care to improve the quality of life for people living with HIV

Provide a forum for HIV education for medical students, residents, graduate students, domestic and international community care providers

Care of HIV-infected patients through the Clint Spencer Clinic
