Local Hawaii Resources

  • STD / AIDS Prevention Branch, Hawaii Department of Health
    Provides statewide leadership and coordination for the prevention, treatment, care and surveillance of infections transmitted primarily through sexual contact or injection drug use. The HIV Medical Management Services includes the Hawaii Seropositivity and Medical Management Program (HSPAMM), HIV Drug Assistance Program (HDAP), and Hawaii COBRA Program (HCOBRA).
  • AIDS Education Project, Hawaii AIDS Education & Training Center
    University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine
    Provides research, education and training on prevention and care of HIV/AIDS in Hawaii and in the Asian Pacific Region. Training sessions are available for HIV case managers, nurses, and healthcare providers. Includes Web links to a variety of local and national agencies and services.
  • Life Foundation
    Life Foundation is a non-profit organization in Hawaii dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV and to assisting people who are living with HIV and AIDS in Hawaii and the Pacific.
  • Hawaii Statewide AIDS Resource from Project Inform
    Includes community based organizations, medical services, government and other organizations that provide a range of services including access information and referrals to local services collated by Project Inform.

National and International Resources

  • HIV/AIDS Information Sources
    A list of local, national, and international HIV/AIDS internet resources selected by the Health Sciences Library, John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii at Manoa.
  • Hawaii Public Health Information Virtual Emporium (HIPHIVE)
    HIPHIVE includes general national and international web-based health databases that may include the subject of HIV/AIDS. Although geared for public health professionals, these internet resources are open to use by the general public. The HIPHIVE project is a collaborative partnership between the Hawaii Medical Library and the School of Public Health at the University of Hawaii at Manoa funded by a grant from the National Library of Medicine.
  • AIDS Clinical Trials Group ACTG
    The ACTG is the largest HIV clinical trials organization defining the standards of care for treatment of HIV infection and opportunistic diseases around the world.
    It has two sites :

  • AIDSinfo
    A service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
    Information on guidelines, drugs, vaccines, and clinical trials. Includes a glossary of HIV / AIDS- related terms.
  • SIS HIV/AIDS Information
    Internet HIV / AIDS resources on treatment, drugs, clinical trials, journal articles, books, audiovisuals, consumer health information, Web links, in English and Spanish collated by the Specialized Information Services from the National Library of Medicine.
  • IAS International AIDS Society
    Site includes information on IAS sponsored conferences and meetings as well as news briefs on HIV / AIDS.
