Set Bandwidth, Speed, Video & Audio for Hālāwai

Many network factors affect the performance of the Acrobat Connect Professional application for attendees, including the bandwidth setting for the meeting room, the connection speed setting for each individual attendee, and the type of content being shared and activities being performed in the meeting.

For example, higher bandwidth is required to share a recorded video than to share a text document, and higher bandwidth is required to broadcast live video than to send chat messages.

Once you are logged into your meeting, use the main file menu for "Meeting" and select "Optimize Room Bandwidth"

The following general guidelines are recommended for room bandwidth settings. Actual speeds may vary according with each network environment:

Modem: One presenter can generate around 26 kbits/second of data. Attendees need around 29 kbits/second for a good connection. Having more than one presenter with the Modem setting is not recommended. Screen sharing with the Modem setting is not recommended.

DSL/Cable: One presenter can generate around 125 kbits/second of data. Attendees need around 128 kbits/second for a good connection. If screen sharing is used, attendees should have 200 kbits/second.

LAN: One presenter can generate around 250 kbits/second of data. Attendees need around 255 kbits/second. If screen sharing is used, attendees should have 400 kbits/second.

Using the same Meeting menu, select "My Connection Speed". All Attendees should choose the connection speed that matches their Internet connection type.

**If anyone experience latency in receiving an audio or video broadcast, they can reduce their connection speed setting.

Set your microphone by choosing the correct microphone device, either the one you plugged in or use the internal microphone from your computer.

The best choice for a microphone is usually a head-set variety that includes both earphone and microphone, avoid using the USB microphone that comes packaged with your computer.

If you need detailed information on how to resolve the issue, click the Help button.

You may be asked to allow the program to access your camera and microphone, you must select Allow whether you plan on using a camera or not. Test your microphone level by recording a short test.

If for some reason it does not pick up your voice it could be that you need to select the correct INPUT device for your audio.

If you need detailed information on how to resolve the issue, click the Help button.

If you were successful in recording your voice using your audio input device, proceed through the wizard for silence level for background noise and click Next.

To exit the Wizard, click Finish.

Now set up your camera connection, by selecting Meeting in the main menu and clicking on Select Camera.

As for a Web camera, this is not really necessary if you need not be seen by other participants. If you must broadcast video to meeting participants any web based camera for your computer will suffice.

IF you have a camera connected, the program would have recognized it and allowed you to choose it using a pull down menu. In the following screen shot, there was no camera connected to the computer.
