Hawaii Educational Research Association
The Hawaii Educational Research Association (HERA) provides a forum for sharing issues, insights, and research findings with educational researchers, administrators, teachers, and others who want to improve educational practice. Through its annual conference, publications, and periodic forums, HERA is a source of information for concerned educators in Hawaii. HERA also sponsors the
Pacific Educational Research Journal, a refereed journal published annually. HERA is a member of the Consortium of State and Regional Educational Research Associations, an affiliate of the American Educational Research Association.
HERA members are encouraged to submit their research for HERA's Distinguished Paper Award. Submissions for are due every calendar year in September to firstname.lastname@example.org. Intent to submit email is due by October 24, 2014. The paper is due November 9, 2014. The award winner is announced at the annual conference and receives an honorarium as well as the opportunity to present at the
American Educational Research Association.
HERA independently and with other educational organizations periodically sponsors forums featuring prominent educators visiting Hawaii. On March 29, 2011, we hosted a talk story with Charles Du, the Western Mobile Development Executive for Apple Inc. In summer 2010, we hosted a forum co-sponsored by the Curriculum Research & Development Group and the Hawaii Educational Policy Center. Our invited speaker is James W. Guthrie, Senior Fellow and Director of Education Policy Studies at the George W. Bush Institute.
HERA presents an annual conference at the beginning of each calendar year. The 37th Annual Conference will be in late January 2015. The 36th Annual HERA Conference was on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa's Campus Center. Our esteemed keynote speaker was David Berliner.
