Mapping the World - Areas Controlled by Axis and Allied Powers in 1940

 

The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor forced the United States to enter World War II. Using the map worksheet provided complete the following.

 

1.       Find and label the following countries, which were the Axis Powers

Germany

Italy

Japan

 

2.       Pick a color to represent the Axis Powers, make a key/legend on your map to show this representation.

 

3.       Using the map on page 143, using the color from # 2 above, color the areas that were controlled by the Axis powers in 1940.

 

4.       Find and label the following countries, which were the Allied Powers

United States

Great Britain

Soviet Union

China

Brazil

Australia

NewZealand

SouthAfrica

India

Canada

 

5.       Pick a color to represent the allied Powers, make a key/legend on your map to show this representation.

 

6.       Using the map on page 143, using the color from # 5 above, color the areas that were controlled by the Allied powers in 1940.

 

7.       Pick a color to represent the Neutral Powers, make a key/legend on your map to show this representation.

 

8.       Using the map on page 143, using the color from # 8 above, color the areas that were controlled by the Neutral powers in 1940.

 

9. Label the following locations: Hawaii, Johnson, Midway, Wake, and Palmyra

    These locations were used for U.S. military bases during the war.
