Territorial Building (Kekuanao'a) (1925). Large fluted Corinthian columns grace the front of this classical revival style building. Inside a cut glass dome is positioned above the lobby.
Royal Brewery (1900). The former home of Primo and Royal Beer, this four story brick building with Romanesque arches produced beer until 1960. The bricks and the brewing equipment were all shipped from San Francisco on a chartered ship. It is now a senior citizens center.
Kawaiaha'o Church (1842). This is considered to be the mother Protestant church in Hawaii and is one of the most significant historical strucutres in the state. Construction started in 1837 based on pastor Hiram Bingham's own design of a "simple New England church." The church took five years to complete and consists of 14,000 coral blocks, each weighing up to 1200 pounds. The blocks were cut from offshore reefs where workers often dove ten to twenty feet underwater to cut them with saws and axes. The lime coral mortar was made in onsite kilns. Some of the wood beams were floated over from Kaneohe and then carried over the Nu'uanu Pali; the rest was imported from the Pacific Northwest. The church measures 144 feet by 78 feet and the original structure had a New England style wooden steeple which was removed in 1885 after it was damaged by a storm. Services are conducted in both English and Hawaiian. The graveyards around the church contain the remains of missionary families and congregation members.
