All entries become property of HGA. The winning postcards will be placed on the HGA website.
POSTCARD
SHOULD:
1. Include
an illustration that represents Mapping the Americas. (For
example; you may include: cultural characteristics; physical landscapes;
celebrations; people; daily living; or, you may create a map to show different
aspects of the Americas.). The illustration should be done in color (using felt
pens, crayons, etc.) on the top half of 8 1/2" x 11" white paper. No
computer art allowed.
(Note to K-1 teachers: Students may use the entire 8 1/2" x 11" paper
for the picture. Attach a separate sheet with the explanation and student
information.)
2. Include a short description for your illustration. (25-50 words)
(Note to K-1 teachers: Dictation for explanation will be accepted...minimum of 10 words.)
3. The postcards will be judged on the quality of the work and how well the illustration and description convey the theme: Mapping the Americas.
POSTCARD FORMAT:
1. Divide 8 1/2" x 11" white paper in half, crosswise
2. Draw picture on top half and type (or write legibly) explanation on bottom half
3. Write name, school, school's address, grade, and teacher's name on the bottom
