Activity 1:
Discuss with students what they have learned about biodiversity and the different habitats.
Place different statements of reasons to protect biodiversity around the room. (Reasons can include statements like: the importance of conserving diversity of life for medical and economic reasons; to help maintain ecological functions like oxygen production, pollination, and flood control; loss of species; recreational activities; people don't have the right to destroy the environment and resources; all species have the right to exist; the need to think about the next generations)
Have students walk to the poster that they feel strongly about. Each group will discuss and report to the rest of the group. Those who feel that nothing describes their feelings can stand in a section designated as "other." Have them state their ideas, too.

Students will design a poster with a catchy message. This should be reflective of what they've learned and how they feel about protecting biodiversity. Display the posters for all to see. |
