NATIVE AMERICAN MUSIC: TRADITIONAL AND MODERN

You will be listening to three recordings of Native American Music. After listening to each recording, you will write a paragraph on your reaction to the music that you just heard, focusing on the following:

• How does the music make you feel and what exactly in the music makes you feel this way?
• What message, if any, do you think the composer/performers are trying to give to the audience through the music
• Do you feel that this music was written/performed for any specific purpose?

4. After listening to all three recordings, write at least 3 statements based on the similarities or differences that these recordings demonstrate. Do you feel that each recording represented a different purpose? Can you figure out which recording(s) is the traditional and which recording is the modern Native American Music? Are there different instruments that were used?
