Dr. Sevki Erdogan was previously an Associate Professor in Computer Science at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and has taught computer science at the San Diego State University, Southwest State University and University of Anger, France. He has obtained his M.Sc. (1979) and Ph.D. (1983) from Manchester University, England. Since coming to UH Hilo, he has starting working with the undergraduates there in cluster building and maintenance, first with old PCs, now with the 256-processor cluster, Huinalu, retired from MHPCC last year. He is even working with a local 9th-grade student to move his endemic propagation simulations to Huinalu. Says Sevki, "I believe that my commitment to research is contagious." Since coming to UH Hilo, he has represented UH at national supercomputing conferences, he has mentored undergraduates in HPC and many of them have successfully applied for internships at MHPCC and for programs sponsored by the DoD HPC Modernization Program.
