HPV PARTNER STUDY and ELIGIBILITY
Who is eligible to participate in the HPV Partner Study?
The HPV Partner Study is no longer recruiting new participants. Follow-up appointments are being scheduled only for active partners. Male and female partners who are involved in a sexual relationship, are at least 18 years of age, in good general health, and residing on Oahu may qualify for the study. Individuals do not have to be infected with HPV to participate in the study. Males must agree to participate in an ongoing cohort study of HPV infection in men (no additional procedures). Females must not be currently pregnant and must be at least 6 months after pregnancy, and have had no prior hysterectomy.
What does this study involve?
Participants are scheduled clinic appointments every 1-2 months for up to 2 years or more. Each visit will include a collection of specimens for HPV testing, as well as blood, urine and other samples. During the visit participants are asked questions about their diet, health and lifestyle activities. About every 2 weeks, participants asked to complete a short journal about their current sexual activity, to be submitted electronically by computer or offline.
What will a participant receive from the HPV Partner Study?
Participants receive at no cost HPV testing and results, diet analysis, pap smears (females) and $50.00 compensation per visit for their travel costs. The study will not provide or pay for any treatment.
