Limahuli Falls plunges nearly 2000 ft into a pool from a 'hanging valley' which drains Limahuli's upper watershed. This upper elevation area is nearly pristine native forest and is accessible only by a helicopter. The pool area is 90% shaded in which a few native plants like mamaki (Pipturus albidus) are found.
