Hawaii's High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) facilitates the development and growth of Hawaii's commercial high technology industry. The Manoa Innovation Center (MIC) is the oldest HTDC high-tech business incubator. For more than 10 years, MIC has leveraged its location near the University of Hawaii at Manoa to link emerging commercial high-tech ventures with university-based research and development.

This month's High Tech Hawaii will feature a conversation with HTDC CEO Phil Bossert and two of the more recent tenants of MIC. Blue Cliff, Inc. CEO Art Koga will describe how his company is leveraging open source software to create new business opportunities in health care. And Monte Littlefield, President and CEO of Pipeline Communications and Technology, Inc., will explain how Pipeline is leveraging University of Hawaii innovations in the defense and civilian markets Along the way they will describe why their companies are in Hawaii located at MIC, and discuss the broad issues around expanding Hawaii's economy to embrace high tech ventures such as theirs.
