WHERE: Windward Community College

 

WHEN: June 16 to June 27, 2008

 

TIMES: Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

              Orientation Saturday May 17, 8:30-12:00

 

CREDITS: 3 credits of EDCS 432. These credits will count towards advancement on the DOE salary schedule.

 

COST: *$107 administrative fee payable to the University of Hawaii.  Payment should be made at the time of UH registration.  No tuition cost.  Fee does not include cost of books.

 

**$50 voluntary contribution to HWP requested after registration with HWP. Checks made payable to the University of Hawai`i Foundation; on the memo line write “Hawai`i Writing Project.”

 

The Hawai`i Writing Project’s Literature Institute is designed for teachers of all levels. The Institute invites you to recapture the joys of literature for yourself and your students. Experience strategies for increasing the pleasures of fiction, poetry, drama, and a range of non-fiction. Learn meaningful, enjoyable ways to present literature, artistic and informational non-fiction to students as you help them develop into lifelong readers. You will read, write, think, and grow. And you will leave with a range of effective classroom tools and your own thoughtfully articulated pedagogy of literature instruction.

 

TO REGISTER:  Complete the form included with this announcement and send it to the Hawai`i Writing Project.  The registration form must be accompanied by: (1) a statement from the registrant and (2) a statement from a colleague.

 

Completed forms must be received by April 30, 2008.
