Essay writing is an essential part of culture- and literature papers offered by the Univesity of Hawaii. Essays are designed to encourage you to demonstrate broad comprehensive knowledge of the relevant readings, develop research skills in identifying and utilising new sources of information, and clear analytical skills in bringing that knowledge to bear upon a particular problem or question. An essay should present a coherent development of a particular line of argument or of contending analyses.

Academic writing follows certain norms and the process of essay writing will be easier for you if you approach it systematically. If you are not yet conversant with what constitutes an adequate essay at a university level, then have a look at the following web sites:
