East-West Center established.

UH Statistical & Computing Center opens in the basement of Keller Hall, using an IBM 650, purchased with $50,000 of NSF funds, and $9,000 of Territorial Grant Funds.

Edwin Mookini becomes UHSCC Director.
John A. Burns becomes governor.

IBM 1401 (8K) acquired
August
UHSCC moves to HIG.
IBM 7040 (32K) acquired. 7040 & 1401 list price was $1.8 million. UH gets 60% educational discount, paying $720,000 in NSF, State, and UH funds. 7040 pic

UH Console System, a "home-grown" makeshift timesharing system, is implemented using 6 IBM 2260 CRT terminals.

IBM 7040 retired.

Hawaii Five-0 debuts September 26
1969
UH radio station KTUH-FM begins transmitting.
February
IBM 360/65 (512K) replaces 360/50

Neil A. Armstrong and "Buzz" Aldrin are the first humans on moon (Apollo 11).-July 20th
November
First RJE - Leeward Community College's IBM 1130 connected to IBM 360.
