	2001: A Network Odyssey by David Lassner In 2001 the University of Hawaii network backbones are taking a major leap into the next generation of networking. Significant projects underway include digitization of the interisland HITS microwave system, implementation of Wave Division Multiplexing on the Institutional Network, modernization and upgrade of the UH Manoa campus backbone, and major increases in our external Internet capacity. All these projects will be able to utilize the Next Generation Internet / Internet2 advanced networking technologies. More...
