Accessing Your E-mail

One of the many benefits of having an UH Username is that you are provided with an Internet e-mail account. Your UH Username becomes your Internet e-mail address. For example, Jane Doe with UH Username jdoe will have an e-mail address of jdoe@hawaii.edu.

Three Ways to Access Your E-mail Account

Option 1 - the World-Wide Web
Access your e-mail from any computer on the Internet with a Web browser.

Option 2 - Pine on Unix
Logon to uhunix and use Pine to send e-mail.

Option 3 - Eudora Client
Eudora is ideal if you plan to read your mail in one location only and if you have a small mail box.

For other client software such as Microsoft Outlook and Netscape Mail client, use the following settings:

  • SMTP Server: mail.hawaii.edu
  • POP and POP3 Server: mail.hawaii.edu
  • IMAP and IMAP4 Server: mail.hawaii.edu
  • SSL Port Numbers*: POP: 995, IMAP: 993, SMTP: 465
*View the SSH/SSL project for more information on configuring email clients with SSL.
